It took Gunnar Gehl two years to create his debut EP, ‘One Second of One Day.’ The rising singer-songwriter revealed the many inspirations that shaped the project along the way, and other fun facts, in an EXCLUSIVE interview!

Gunnar Gehl “really committed” to his singing-songwriting career in 2018, and in just two years, this commitment has birthed his debut EP One Second of One Day. The eight-track project is one you’d turn to while daydreaming — or lamenting — over a certain someone, but Gunnar makes romantic angst fun with his bright vocals that puts him in the same league as pop kings like Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes at just 19 years old.

While many of the songs on the One Second of One Day EP “come from a place of relationships,” Gunnar EXCLUSIVELY tells HollywoodLife about how his “most vulnerable” song on the track list was actually not inspired by romance “at all.” He’s not always floating on cloud nine; the talented artist is grounded here on Earth as well, very much aware of the harsh realities people his age are going through in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This inspired Gunnar to launch a livestream campaign between the months of August and October, named after his EP, which was a curation of performances and honest chats about these pandemic hardships with stars like Nessa Barrett (whom Gunnar had an especially memorable conversation with). The singer explains why — and also goes into detail about the many inspirations for his EP’s songs and fun facts about his various new music videos — in an email interview with HollywoodLife below:

HollywoodLife: You started working on your debut EP, One Second Of One Day, two years ago! Can you tell me more about the journey it took to complete this project?

Gunnar: Yeah! So much has happened this last year or so, and the only thing holding me together was music and just the continuation of songwriting. So when we finally were ready to put music out, I was set on picking my favorite from the last two years. A couple songs came from a little songwriting camp I did last December, a couple came from a more recent time, and “Missing Someone” is the oldest song on the project. I actually wrote that song two years ago, and it held such a special place in my heart for so long I knew I had to include it.

HollywoodLife: You show a lot of vulnerability in this EP, since many of the songs are quite romantic. What experiences inspired the tracks on this project?

Gunnar: Haha very observant!!! Yes, a lot of these songs come from a place of relationships and love which of course is a place of vulnerability. There’s a couple songs that come from downs in relationships but also a lot of positivity. One of my favorite “relationship” songs is “Pleasure & Pain” because it plays both sides. It’s that feeling of accepting anything thrown at you, including all the bad just for the moments of good.  Although, I think the most vulnerable song on this project is “Good Enough” which doesn’t come from a relationship place at all. This song is about the feeling of not thinking or not knowing if you / what you’re doing is enough. I think this is something that everyone has been through and it’s a real thing that I was going through at the time, so it’s really special to see people connect with it.

HollywoodLife: Is there one song among the One Second of One Day track list that is especially personal, and why?

Gunnar: “Good Enough” for sure. I was just going through it with the label I used to be with and every song I wrote got the same reaction of “keep writing keep writing.” So after months of making music and hearing that, I was just at a breaking point. I walked into this session and had all these emotions built up and just broke down and wrote this song. “It’s time to be honest, I’m anxious just thinking about it, I’m pacing, I’m tired of wondering is this good enough….”

HollywoodLife: Your two most recent music videos, “Missing Someone” and “Not Even In My Dreams,” were both filmed around water. Is there special meaning behind this?

Gunnar: YES THERE IS!!! We recorded both of those videos in Tahoe where we were writing a lot of what will be my debut album. We had some of my favorite songwriters and producers all in a house for about 10 days and we created some of the best music I have ever made…I know we are focusing on the [One Second of One Day] EP but I have to say how excited I am for the next round of music.

HollywoodLife: Do you have any fun or surprising behind-the-scenes stories about one of the songs or music videos from this EP?

Gunnar: We did something really really cool for the “one piece” music video coming out. I can’t say too much other than there are 4 Gunnar’s in one video :)))

HollywoodLife: You were simultaneously wake surfing and mouthing along to the words of your song for the “Missing Someone” music video! Are you an avid surfer?

Gunnar: I surfed a lot growing up, and being in Tahoe wake surfing and being on the water was such a good throwback feeling, we had to make a piece of content around it. “Missing Someone” was kind of the perfect song because it was like I was singing about an old version or hobby.

HollywoodLife: You launched a livestream campaign, named after your debut EP, to help youth struggling amid the COVID-19 pandemic. You also invited a number of musical artists to perform and chat with you for the livestream series! What were some standout conversations you’ve had with these guests, and who were they with?

Gunnar: Yes!! The summer series was the absolute best thing we could have done during this time. During Covid, so many people experienced challenges mentally, some that have never really experienced them before, like me. Because of all this going on, I just wanted to give people an outlet to see artists they look up to talk about things they’re going through. There is such a divide with social media because it’s so easy to look at someone and think their life is perfect, so hearing first hand that everyone goes through the same thing was a really special thing. I think one of my favorite episodes was with Nessa Barret talking about the things she battles with. She talked about her struggles with Bipolar 2 and I think it meant a lot for her to tell people the things she deals with. It also was so amazing and important for her audience to see that she goes through things like anybody else. No amount of followers or fame or money can fix what humans deal with internally, so I was really happy that she opened up like that.

HollywoodLife: How has the pandemic personally affected you? Has it changed any of your goals or perspective on life in general?

Gunnar: It’s definitely helped me learn patience on a level I was not on haha. I’ve actually been really fortunate to be as productive as I have during this time with music and the [One Second of One Day] show. Like I said, I had so much music piled up from the last two years I was just focused on getting it out to the world. I’ll tell you the hardest part about this pandemic has been the inability to see fans and perform like we used to. On stage and in that environment is where I feel the most comfortable and “at home,” so I miss that beyond words. I miss hugging and being face to face with everybody.

HollywoodLife: Let’s backtrack a bit, now. When did you first start singing, and when did you get really serious about this path?

Gunnar: I think I really started singing when I was like 14… but it was HORRIBLE ahahah. I was just making music and having fun. It really started to get serious in 2018 when I started to take songwriting into my own and really committed to this. It was later that year when my first tour with Prettymuch happened, and from the first moment of the first show, I knew with complete certainty I would never stop doing this. On stage I felt a comfort that I had never felt anywhere else. After that I spent time just honing in on my sound and writing a bunch of music and practicing non-stop…Now we’re here two years later at the real beginning. 🙂

HollywoodLife: You also play the guitar! How long have you been playing?

Gunnar: I’ve been playing guitar since I was 7! I’ve loved the guitar forever, it will always be a part of me, my music, and my shows.

HollywoodLife: Finally, are there any future projects or performances that you can tease?

Gunnar: Oh yes. 2021 is going to be an exciting year and I couldn’t be happier about the music on the way.. STAY TUNED !!!!!!

As seen in her new ‘Die 4 Ur Love’ video, singer Tei Shi brings attitude, ‘fun,’ and a whole lot of ‘energy’ with her new music. She tells us EXCLUSIVELY why going independent has put the ‘control’ back in her hands.

“This whole EP, the way I made it, the energy behind it, the release, the visuals – it’s all very much driven by me and coming from a place where I have the control in my hands,” Tei Shi tells HollywoodLife when discussing her new ep, Die 4 Ur Love. Released on July 17, the 5-track project is her first since going independent as an artist, and it’s a chance to showcase a new side of her, artistically. It’s also a chance for her to have a whole lot of fun without having to ‘wait around for approvals,” and that can be seen in the video for the title track.

In “Die 4 Ur Love,” out today (July 28), Tei lives her full glamorous quarantine fantasy. From lounging around in her underwear to scrubbing her kitchen to eating pasta on the toilet, “Die 4 Ur Love” is the mood of the moment. Paired with an undeniable banger of a dance track, the video is a mix of sexy and goofy. “This EP,” she tells HollywoodLife, “was all about having fun, doing something quick and easy, and not putting too much thought into it. I also think the nature of what’s going on in the world, lockdown, and quarantine really influenced the DIY energy behind the EP – I’ve had limited tools, and that in a way has brought me back to a very DIY place.

Tei Shi, in her full glory (Marcus Cooper)

Tei has spoken about how the music has come from a dark place (“Right at the beginning of the year, I had a couple things happen that fucked me up on a personal and emotional level,” she said in a previous interview), she tells HollywoodLife how these new songs represent a type of music she’s been wanting to do for a while. She also shares one of her favorite moments on Die 4 Ur Love, if she’s found a “dancefloor” in quarantine, and more.

HollywoodLife: What would you say is one of your favorite moments on Die 4 Ur Love? Was there a moment when you pushed your voice in a new direction, or a line you’re particularly fond of?

There are a lot of moments that stand out to me, especially since the whole EP was written in the span of 6 days so it’s all just sort of one big snapshot in time. I think a big one is the song ‘Goodbye’ though – I really got some things I needed to say out and I’m really happy I was able to put it into words the way I did. I remember when I wrote the lines “Also I’m sick of your sh-t, you’ve been officially noticed, I quit, got my freedom. Also, I’m making a hit, you better listen now sit down, kick your feet up” — that was a really fun moment for me!

You’re a recently independent artist. Would you say that’s reflected in the music on your new EP?

Definitely. This whole EP, the way I made it, the energy behind it, the release, the visuals – it’s all very much driven by me and coming from a place where I have the control in my hands. Not that I ever relinquished creative control before, but it’s more the ability to do things when and how I want, and not having to wait around for approvals and support which in the past led to my albums taking way too long to get finished and come out. This EP was all about having fun, doing something quick and easy, and not putting too much thought into it. I also think the nature of what’s going on in the world, lockdown, and quarantine really influenced the DIY energy behind the EP – I’ve had limited tools, and that in a way has brought me back to a very DIY place.

Tei Shi is ready for her close-up (Marcus Cooper )

You’ve said that the song “Die 4 Ur Love” came from a “dark, negative place.” Has this EP changed any perceptions of what your music can and cannot be? For instance, would you avoid writing about such a “dark” subject matter in the past? Or, are you more of an “intimate” songwriter that you needed to experience these “negative spaces” before you could put them in song?

Not at all, I don’t think I ever put a limit on what I can make or write about. That I think is really the essence behind my music so far, that I always feel like I have to keep exploring new ideas or ways of doing things. I’ve definitely written about some darker emotional states before, and then also some very beautiful and idyllic moments. One thing this EP has done though is helped me tap into something I’ve wanted to do as a writer for some time which is to write from a more story-like or character-driven standpoint rather than purely personal. A couple of the songs were written more from perspectives that were outside of what I was experiencing literally…but in a way, they took on an even broader meaning if that makes sense.

You’ve done “sprawling” projects that have spanned years, and you’ve said this new EP is a “snapshot of a few months.” Having done both, do you have a preference when it comes to songwriting/recording? Do you like it better when you have a while to stew over a song, or do you find yourself enjoying a more “wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am” pace?

I like working within a more condensed time frame for sure. There’s nothing more frustrating for me than being excited about something and then, having to sit around and wait for a multitude of reasons – my goal is to keep making music this way and hopefully make a whole album in a few weeks, that type of thing. But who knows…maybe that will change?

If you could go back to 2017 and give one piece of advice to yourself right after you recorded Crawl Space, what would you say?

Stop overthinking everything and trying to be everything! [laughs] I think I put WAY too much pressure on myself at that time and was setting huge expectations for myself. I forgot to have fun along the way and I drove myself crazy over tiny things. I learned a lot after Crawl Space though, and I don’t think I’d be where I am without that.

I know that things are still not open due to COVID, but have you found a “dance floor” somewhere? Even if it’s in your kitchen?

Oh, the dance floor is literally everywhere in my house. Pretty much anywhere I’m alone. My back yard especially though – making this EP in quarantine had me pacing and thrashing in my yard every day.

Die 4 Ur Love – both the video and the EP – are out now.

Jufu Is A Self-Made Social Media Visionary: Why His Debut EP Is Not Just About The Music

Jufu, who boasts 2.7 million TikTok followers, launched a music career right from his room. The multi-genre artist explains how he utilized comedy content on social media to eventually branch out with his ‘very diverse’ debut EP.

More than 500,000 TikToks have been filmed to the catchy tune of “Who R U” — with Will Smith and Steve Harvey’s videos among this batch — but that question isn’t actually being asked about Jufu. His fans on Omegle prove this, who immediately scream upon sight after the 20-year-old musical artist’s face pops up on the video chat screen (Jufu has now shared 90 of these reactions to his Instagram, which is his out-of-the-box method of fan outreach). Or, you can take a look at the Brooklyn-based artist’s TikTok following itself, which currently stands at 2.7 million users. This isn’t the result of luck. Jufu, previously known as Julian Fulian, is a social media maven who just needs his imagination, smart wordplay and prowess at editing to put out content — even during a pandemic.

“I haven’t really needed to adapt [to quarantining], because most of my content — like throughout my life — has always been done at home from my room…even my music career started in my room. So it kind of worked out for me,” Jufu EXCLUSIVELY told HollywoodLife. He later added, “I feel like I’m very, very good just coming up with content…I usually see the content before I make the song.” This is evident in the music video for “What’s The Vibe,” a track that Jufu produced himself and dropped with the May 7 release of his debut EP Get Used To Me through Island Records. The video, which is animated, is like a Zoom group call transformed into a party in the Hollywood Hills.

Jufu has been building towards this EP after a long track record in social media, which actually began with comedy. He started with “funny videos” on Vine in 2013, and after its death in late 2016, Jufu switched gears to Musical.ly (TikTok’s predecessor). He then made his foray into recording music by making parodies while still doing comedy skits for about two years. One of these parodies was his take on Lil Yachty’s 2016 hit “Broccoli,” which Jufu estimated led to the creation of 400,000 videos on Musical.ly. However, there was a downfall to this type of music.

“My parodies were like really huge, but I never really got credit for it,” Jufu admitted. He eventually took a break from Musical.ly in search of a “different” audience. “And then I came back in 2019 and released the song called ‘Woahh’,” Jufu explained, which also has a music video (directed and edited by Jufu himself) that has amassed more than half a million views on YouTube. Given that this was inspired by the “Woah” challenge that overtook TikTok in 2019, “ it was kind of a comedic song in a way,” Jufu said. “So I didn’t really like take a giant jump from comedy straight into music.”

This is true. On Jufu’s new EP, there are songs like “Chicken Sandwich,” reminding you of his cheeky humor that has made him a hit on every video-based social media platform: “Oh my gosh, dude this song is fire bro / Like, like yo, it’s like the chicken sandwich fire / Like, you know the Popeye’s chicken sandwich bro?,” Jufu raps in the chorus. And then, there’s “Ca$h App,” which is “completely from a fictional story of like the point of view of a sugar daddy,” Jufu explained. It’s also a smart way to capitalize on the running joke among Gen Z to “drop your Cashapp” — Jufu has an eye for such trends.

The EP is also balanced with songs that wouldn’t necessarily be used for the audio of a funny TikTok clip. Jufu observed that his listeners could “actually be confused” due to the project’s “very, very versatile” style. One track that especially proves how Jufu can seamlessly jump between laugh-out-loud lines to serious flow is “Surreal,” which was inspired by the “technique” Jufu has used to manifest his own desires. “I’ve made affirmations in the past. About two years ago, I wrote into a notebook — ‘I am a successful musical artist and entrepreneur,’ etc. And I feel like I wrote that and spoke it into existence. And it’s something that like, [I] was able to visualize and then naturally I just work towards it every day and kind of brought it to life…And that’s why I made the song ‘Surreal’ on the project,” Jufu said.

Jufu’s well-roundedness is also a result of his training outside of social media. He’s a 2018 graduate of Edward R. Murrow High School in Brooklyn, where he studied at the school’s state of the art “Music x Technology” program that Joey Bada$$ once studied at, which Grammy-winning legend Alicia Keys has donated to. Beyond high school, Jufu also revealed that he went to college for film, where he learned “a lot” of editing skills.

Going forward, fans are going to hear Jufu experiment even more with his sound, which won’t necessarily always involve comedy as he prepares for his debut album. “The album is going to be elegant. The only thing I can say about it, is that it’s going to be a lot more related to me and a lot more artistic,” he teased.

Jufu is full of surprises, so “artistic” can mean many things — after all, a fun fact about himself is that he can sing opera, thanks to a love for the antiquated genre instilled by his dad’s fondness for Italian opera singing legend Andrea Bocelli. Perhaps we will actually have to ask Jufu “Who R U” in the near future, as he continues to keep his fans on their toes (and on their phones).

Yung Lixo – Sake Lyrics

Gira o mundo e gira a bolsa, mano, vai lavar a louça
Fala, fala pra caralho, faz porra nenhuma

[Outro]
Der’ for lidt der’ fedt
Der’ for lidt af det der
Lidt for lidt
Lidt for lidt

Pete Flux & Parental – What They Need Lyrics

[Verse 1]
My head’s heavy with words, I never sleep
I lay awake, rustling hard between the sheets
The funny thing is I’m an EP deep
And these niggas swear rhyming is the easy street
Sick bars, got quarantined by CDC
Spit at legendary clips, call em CP3s
Whoa, that’s an effortless point of reference
Most would say the country’s run by the president
I say the ones not living in the present tense
To keep it real in the face of greed’s prevalence
Hip hop is hard work with little recompense
I jumped a hurdle now I gotta leap a second fence
In a row, try to take it in my stroll
Or a stride, rip a few shows to let em know
That I’m live, broadcast the tracks and get the cash
Pragmatic rap addicts the only niggas that last huh?

[Chorus]
They want the cars and the clothes
What they need, kid? Bars and the flows
They want the bitches and the stacks
What they need, kid? Vision and a map
They want the cars and the clothes
What they need, kid? Bars and the flows
They want the bitches and the stacks
What they need, kid? Vision and a map

[Verse 2]
I want to scream it from a megaphone
For my nation that’s overrun with severed homes
Clever poems almost ensure you’re never known
Set in stone by those who’d rather break bread alone
Than share, sad state of affairs, we can’t stop though
I’m mad great with these pairs and they’re not bro
Killing your shit with my diligent clique
We feel that you missed, it’s all f**king villas and spliffs
Militant riffs about drug dealers that lift
Heavy weight, meditate on how I’m real as it gets
When you listen to a verse about material shit
Recognize there’s no lies when my miracles writ
Split, time with my peeps and the crew
Put the balance on the wax, then deliver to you
First hand, burst plans of a critical few
Give you nothing but the raw, quite the pivotal view

[Chorus]
They want the cars and the clothes
What they need, kid? Bars and the flows
They want the bitches and the stacks
What they need, kid? Vision and a map
They want the cars and the clothes
What they need, kid? Bars and the flows
They want the bitches and the stacks
What they need, kid? Vision and a map

[Verse 3]
Not trying to change your mind, I’m telling it like it is
Even if I’m much maligned by most of the writing biz
It’s such a grind, promoting the type of shiz
That discusses real life and the energy that you give
To keep pushing, the beats to keep cooking
Parental’s got those, these pros indeed hook em’
With allure, bringing warmth back, like a heated cushion
Not leading bookings but we see you looking
Developed a bond perfecting the craft
And it’s, helping us on this definite path
As one of the great duos, don’t want the fake kudos
Critics rate pseudos, mostly hate nouveau
Even when it’s clear to see as H2O
That we’re two of the best artists to break through though
You know the style that’ll make you believe
It’s Pete Flux, giving all the people what they need

[Chorus]
They want the cars and the clothes
What they need, kid? Bars and the flows
They want the bitches and the stacks
What they need, kid? Vision and a map
They want the cars and the clothes
What they need, kid? Bars and the flows
They want the bitches and the stacks
What they need, kid? Vision and a map

Cadell – 17 Lyrics

[Verse 1]
I don’t care who you think’s the best in grime
Cause I ain’t no rival for a title, I’d rather be next in line
I can see mouths moving but really can’t hear no one
Godfather, my big brother’s the Robert De Niro one
I saved the grime scene, no hero one
Where should I start from? Zero? One?
He took many a flow, tried to use me
Till I got over one, like two, three
And I’m bored of the sword fights
I lock down the rave, no 45s
On the front line, you won’t get lemon
I’ll give him a dead Q, six, seven
Wrote this bar and I had to rate Grimez
I want two boxes, that’s eight nines
I’m a devil, I wanna go to heaven
Nearly a new day, ten to eleven
21+, that’s helping me
Lost my virginity at twelve, thirteen
Plus, didn’t wanna miss me
Write like fourteen to fifteen 16s

[Hook]
You was like seventeen, filling job applications
I was like seventeen, chilling with Truss, we got entertainment
And yeah, I might lose my friend, I don’t want no replacement
Cause me and my circle’s family, I ain’t lost fam in ages
You was like seventeen, filling job applications
I was like seventeen, chilling with Truss, we got entertainment
And yeah, I might lose my friend, I don’t want no replacement
Cause me and my circle’s family, I ain’t lost fam in ages

[Verse 2]
At sixteen, I’d tell girls I’m eighteen
Guess what? They still believed me
Born in 19 How Long, 20 man deep
When I ride out, it’s easy
In America, you’ve gotta be 21 to be able to do
22 of the 23 things we do in 24 hours
25 man wanna beef me
Might not reach 26, if I don’t, I’m pissed
I can say that it’s worth a try
My team’s success might hurt your eyes
Two sevenths, two eighths, two nines and 30 guys
I know you wanna be one
Got the fans like “this ain’t the free one”
And I’mma end the count at 32
Make sure that you get the EP too
And I’ve been a problem
But I don’t admit it often
And I’m anti, ain’t got a million friends
Me riding alone’s like a million men
Spent 2014 giving ’em pebs
2015’s gonna make a little more sense
So business, stay inna yours
Me, I can’t lack inna war
Man think that they’re Modrić, new to the field like Livermore
I’m old school, front liner, Robbie Keane
f**k twerking, if I let it tweak
You’ll know what Bobby means
But enough about Bobby, though
Cause they already knew we was on the road
This my honour roll
I’ve heard too many man say they’re onto me
Dem man are ghost busters like they shot a ghost

[Hook]
You was like seventeen, filling job applications
I was like seventeen, chilling with Truss, we got entertainment
And yeah, I might lose my friend, I don’t want no replacement
Cause me and my circle’s family, I ain’t lost fam in ages

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – Victory Lap lyrics

[Intro: Macklemore]
Now they say, “Don’t forget where you come from
Don’t die holding on to your words
Cause you know, that you got a whole world to change
But understand who you gotta change first”

[Verse 1: Macklemore]
And I was like “Fuck that”, humility bust back
I remember the days with nothing but a bus pass
I was just a little shorty, just hopin’ that I could find a bum
To buy a 40 for me and have enough for a bud sack
Yeah, and I dance on that instrumental
Unorthodox like Basquiat with the pencil
Give me a microphone and a beat box I could vent to
Music the only medium that I could find myself through
Recluse, sippin’ on some lean I would let loose
Lookin’ in the mirror, watchin’ myself lose
Cleaned up in oh-eight, got a job makin’ barely minimum wage
To get into that page
Hit the road with R.L., performing in front of eight people
And that shit will check your ego
About around that time I’m watching that EP go
From nothing to getting us booked around the country
I know no limits, life can change in an instant
Eight people turn into sold out shows in a minute
Now watching my pops in the back row grinnin’
With his glass up to my mom, toastin’ his Guinness

[Pre-Hook: Macklemore]
And we on, we on
Good music, it lies in the ambiance
One day we’ll leave here
But these words live on
Till then, we keep on making the songs

[Hook: Macklemore]
So put ’em up, up up, up up, so high
So put ’em up, up up, up up, so high
So put ’em up, up up, up up, so high
Put ’em up, up up, up up, so high
So put ’em up, up up, up up, so high
So put ’em up, up up, up up, so high

[Verse 2: Macklemore]
I remember that Freshman edition
Last year thinking to myself like
Yeah, nah, I won’t win it yet, I probably won’t get it, but
I’ma give it everything, play my position
The next 11 months I gave it all, everything I had in me
Left blood, sweat, tears in every god damn city
No label, no deal, no publicist, indie
Just music that connected and fans that rode with me
Throw me a gold mine, and a co-sign
While you’re riding a couple dope rides
Two women, both dimes
Not gonna lie, that shit sounds so nice
But I got creative control, and my soul’s mine
I wouldn’t trade it, maybe I’m crazy
I put on for my city, Seattle, that raised me
Rule four-thousand-and-eighty, it’s really not changing
Now a days make good music, the people are your label

[Hook: Macklemore]
So put ’em up, up up, up up, so high
So put ’em up, up up, up up, so high
So put ’em up, up up, up up, so high
Put ’em up, up up, up up, so high
So put ’em up, up up, up up, so high
So put ’em up, up up, up up, so high

[Outro: Macklemore]
Oh my God
Feels like a victory lap
Can I have that moment
Can I talk my shit

[Interlude: Macklemore]
Now they say, “Don’t forget where you come from
Don’t die holding on to your words
Cause you know, that you got a whole world to change
But understand who you gotta change first”

[Outro: Macklemore]
Put ’em, up, up, up up
Up, up, up up
Put ’em, up, up, up up
Macklemore, Ryan Lewis
Put ’em up, up, up up
Up, up, up up
Put ’em, up, up, up up (so high)

[Intro]
Steel Banglez
Sickmade

[Verse 1]
Live life on the edge, won’t topple
Like when I’m on a bike, full throttle
Step in the dance, kop bottles
MIST from the ends is the kids role model
New whip soon land, looking like a space shuttle
Black-on-black, yeah, I call that subtle
My dargs dem a bark, no muzzle
Beef get solved real quick, but it’s long like puzzles
I just wanna watch money double

[Chorus]
I’m getting hot like Nelly
Legend in the game, Machiavelli
Glastonbury, yeah, yeah, you see me on the telly
I’m a very calculated nigga, never miss a penny
I’m getting hot like Nelly
Legend in the game, Machiavelli
Glastonbury, yeah, yeah, you see me on the telly
I’m a very calculated nigga, never miss a penny

[Verse 2]
Just gimmie health, health and wealth
Fear no one but God himself
Got P from my EP and weren’t selling on the shelf
I remember hustling for Ralph
These day I hustle for a house
Stepped in the dance, shut down, bounced
Came through stinking of ounce
Yeah, I came through stinking of ounce

[Chorus]
I’m getting hot like Nelly
Legend in the game, Machiavelli
Glastonbury, yeah, yeah, you see me on the telly

[Verse 3]
Game change like weather
Yeah, I changed, but I changed for the better
Diamond in the dirt, yeah, you know that I’m treasure
So far gone, dem boy can’t measure
Having no dough brings pressure
When you get dough, don’t go broke, yeah, that’s clever
Sickmade on my chain and my sweater

Nesbeth Gives Back To Students, Singer Lauded by Embassy & Police High Commission

As the Yuletide season shifts into high gear Reggae luminary, Nesbeth is definitely in the mood for giving. Wrapping up a two-month island-wide campaign to bring social awareness to school children regarding the use and impact of social media. The singer last week made a surprise visit to Montego Bay High School where he handed over a cheque worth fifty thousand dollars, to two students of the academic institution. The recipients: Mikaliah Allen and Brianne Irons were the overall winners of the ‘Success Story’ online competition, hosted in November in collaboration with Foota Hype Music (F.H.M).

Making the presentation during the school’s devotional period, Nesbeth implored the pupils and school administration with special mention to the ancillary staff to follow their dreams and become their own ‘success story’.

“I know what it’s like to not have, coming from very humble place and having to face some almost insurmountable obstacles to get to where I am in life; but the real reason I was able to make it this far is because I had a dream and I never once lost sight of it despite the challenges. So today before I leave, I want to personally implore you all to have a dream and work earnestly towards it.”

The Principal, Mr Gary Powell, thanked Nesbeth for the kind gesture; encouraging him to continue being a beacon of inspiration for the youths of this country.

Over the weekend the ‘Success Story’ hitmaker also made appearances at the Office of the Police High Commission and the United States Embassy, delivering stupendous sets respectively. The Rastafarian crooner was lauded by both entities for his selfless effort at nation-building.

Meanwhile, as the year draws to a close, Nesbeth remains steadfast on completing his album but is expected to release an EP in the first quarter of the new year as a precursor to the album.

The singer’s next appearance will be at the 5th instalment of Ghetto Splash this Tuesday, December 19th.

XXXTentacion Drops New EP “A Ghetto Christmas Carol” Listen

XXXTentacion want his fans to jam to his new EP A Ghetto Christmas Carol for the holidays.

The Lauderhill rapper has had a rocky year but he is looking to close out 2017 on a high with this new five track EP. You can find singles such as “A ghetto Christmas Carol,” “Hate Will Never Win,” “Up Like An Insomniac,” “Red Light,” and “Indecision.” He is listed a producer on the single “Up Like An Insomniac” along with Ronny J who produced most of the project.

Surprisingly there are no Christmas themed song on the EP despite the title being A Ghetto Christmas Carol. On his self-produced song “Insomniac” he raps about his fame and riches in a fiery freestyle over a bass heavy beat. “Okay, Xans for her dinner, uhh / Bag from Margiela, uhh / Bad little b**ch, she Spanish / Speak no English, got no manners / Just like a gnome, I’m at your home / Right on your yard, shoes are Goyard,” X raps.

XXXTentacion has an upcoming court date set for December 15th where he could very well be taken into custody as the prosecution look to lay down more charges against him. He is currently charged with domestic battery by strangulation, witness-tampering, false imprisonment, and aggravated battery of a pregnant woman.

XXXTentacion Could Spend Christmas In Jail, Case Takes A Turn For The Worse

XXXTentacion is in a serious legal bind and could spend Christmas and New Year’s in jail.

The South Florida rapper posted an image of his court document on Instagram while issuing an apology to anyone who he may have let down if he gets locked up at his next court hearing on December 15th. XXXTentacion is set to stand trial for domestic battery by strangulation, witness-tampering, false imprisonment, and aggravated battery of a pregnant woman. These are all serious charges against the rapper and could put him in the slammer for years if found guilty.

“Court date is on the 15th 9:00 am here is my court information, if I am taken into custody, I want to tell everyone I’ve let down I apologize, I tried my best, I really did,” X wrote on IG. Earlier this month, the “Look At Me” rapper’s legal team filed an affidavit claiming that the victim in the case no longer wishes to pursue the case against him but the prosecution objected and argued that the affidavit might not even be legitimate.

XXXTentacion has been having a rocky year despite tasting mainstream success with his rap career and even landing a lucrative record deal with Capitol Records worth a reported $6 million. During the summer he got into a beef with another rapper whose crew knocked him out on stage at one of his tour stops in California. Last month, he again got into an altercation with some guys link to rap group Migos. Despite getting a beat down, he was defiant on social media about getting back at the Atlanta trio.

XXXTentacion released his new EP, A Ghetto Christmas Carol, ahead of his upcoming court date. The project features five new singles including a song he produced himself “Up Like an Insomniac” where he fired off a freestyle.

Aidonia Protege Govana To Unveil New T-Shirt Line

Scorching the airwaves with ‘Loco’ and ‘Gyal Clown’, two of the hottest tracks coming out of the summer. Dancehall artiste Govana is set to unveil his new T-Shirt line next week.

Aside from being a savvy lyricist and songwriter, the 4th Genna deejay can now annex entrepreneur to his list of accruing accolades. Though the initial rollout will feature predominantly garb for men in an array of colours and sizes, Govana explains the collection is unisex, thus the shirts can also be worn by women until the full complement is ready.

“I’ve always wanted to dabble into other aspects of business since my emergence on the scene. Music and fashion go well together and I believe starting a clothing line will be a good marriage for my music and brand. It’s something the fans have been requesting for years so I think now is the right time,” Govana intimated.

He continued, “Everywhere we travel people always asking for T-Shirts and other promotional material, so starting a clothing line I believe is a step in the right direction in building Govana and the 4th Genna brand.”

The collection dubbed ‘Genna Genna’, coined from a popular slang used during his performances will be available at selected stores across the island in the months ahead. However, for the residual of the year, the shirts will only be available in Kingston at Block B Shop 178-179 Constant Spring Arcade (beside the passport office). Full details on other locations will be made available at soonest, in the interim orders can also be placed by contacting (876 401-993).

Meanwhile, Govana says things are progressing steadily with his upcoming EP which he promises will be a ‘respectable body of work’ with something for everyone’. Fans can look out for the official visuals for ‘Gyal Clown’ and ‘Loco’ in the weeks ahead.

P Money – Keepin’ It Real

[Verse 1: P Money]
I just wanna make music
Hit the studio, create music
My fans purchase, download and play music
Seek melody, metaphor and rave music
That chill on the sofa and play music
Don’t want a beat, just wanna play music
Who am I kidding? I’ll beat when I play music and
If her boyfriend is talking smack
I’ve got that lead your girlfriend away music
I’ve got that wild, you’ve got that tame music
I’ve got that real, you’ve got that lame music
I’ve got that cosign, labels wanna sign the work of art
Belong in the Tate music
Grime, rap, UK bass music
That real easy to embrace music, and
Any MC that is thinking they’re rough
I’ve got that punch a man in their face music
That serve you [?] ace music
Black, white, don’t watch race music
Still here, kept my faith music
Ten years, never made no fake music
Man have been making that great music
You need to make that stay in your lane music
Cuh 2016, I’ll be touring Australia
Second time round like

[Pre-Hook: P Money]
I’ve been killing shows with no deal
I always keep it down to earth, I’m so real
I’m ready, I’m itching to go, can’t sit still
They’re so fake, they don’t even know how it feels when you’re

[Hook: P Money]
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, they don’t even know
How it feels when you’re
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it

[Verse 2: Stormzy]
If you’re gonna send then send for the top
Look, trust me, I get it (calm)
I’ll take that shot and I’ll take that shot
Yeah, I’m photogenic (calm)
But when I spray back and I ended careers
Don’t tell me to dead it (‘llow it)
Bare of these MCs hate me
But they still see me and beg it (pussies)
And I still came back with the game on my lap
Like “nobody move” (no one)
Tryna take care of my Gs
Ain’t tryna see nobody lose
But man try come for my team, I’ll dun him off
My man thought he’s a G, stop running off
I’ve got a crown and you’ve got a crown
But rudeboy, this crown here ain’t coming off (‘llow it)

[Pre-Hook: P Money]
I’ve been killing shows with no deal
I always keep it down to earth, I’m so real
I’m ready, I’m itching to go, can’t sit still
They’re so fake, they don’t even know how it feels when you’re

[Hook: P Money]
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, they don’t even know
How it feels when you’re
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it

[Verse 3: P Money]
Yo, I was one of the youngers that you couldn’t send shop
Yeah, I was a mummy’s boy, but never soft
I boxed man that thought they couldn’t get boxed
Topped MCs that thought they couldn’t be topped
When I flow on the riddim, I never get lost
When you flow on the riddim, you’re told “get lost”
Labels wanna know how I keep going hard
Thought I took a pill cuh my ting never went flop
Complete control, I could never get dropped
There was never a show that never went off
Milking it for so long and it never went off
Don’t know why, maybe it’s cause I never went pop
Helped out the game, man did that a lot
Bring us down to festivals, did that a lot
Man can chat shit about me doing dubstep
Told grime police man never bread cops
So I still spray on dubstep now, and what?
Wait, cut the beat out, let me talk to these lot
Let’s talk P, I’m on about me
First grime act packing at Wireless? Me
Spraying on “Eskimo” at Wireless? Me
Five years straight and still tireless? Me
When everybody got a deal and did what they feel
Who was here releasing grime CDs? Me and Jme
Grime tracks on every single EP? Me
Young MC that was duppying pirate? Me
Big MC still duppying pirate? Me
Doing shows worldwide, play a man’s vocal
Showing their country that it’s not just me
Who was doing that at the time? No one, me
There was more but I can’t fit it in a sixteen
Man just better respect me

[Pre-Hook: P Money]
I’ve been killing shows with no deal
I always keep it down to earth, I’m so real
I’m ready, I’m itching to go, can’t sit still
They’re so fake, they don’t even know how it feels when you’re

[Hook: P Money]
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, they don’t even know
How it feels when you’re

[Verse 1: P Money]
I just wanna make music
Hit the studio, create music
My fans purchase, download and play music
Seek melody, metaphor and rave music
That chill on the sofa and play music
Don’t want a beat, just wanna play music
Who am I kidding? I’ll beat when I play music and
If her boyfriend is talking smack
I’ve got that lead your girlfriend away music
I’ve got that wild, you’ve got that tame music
I’ve got that real, you’ve got that lame music
I’ve got that cosign, labels wanna sign the work of art
Belong in the Tate music
Grime, rap, UK bass music
That real easy to embrace music, and
Any MC that is thinking they’re rough
I’ve got that punch a man in their face music
That serve you [?] ace music
Black, white, don’t watch race music
Still here, kept my faith music
Ten years, never made no fake music
Man have been making that great music
You need to make that stay in your lane music
Cuh 2016, I’ll be touring Australia
Second time round like

[Pre-Hook: P Money]
I’ve been killing shows with no deal
I always keep it down to earth, I’m so real
I’m ready, I’m itching to go, can’t sit still
They’re so fake, they don’t even know how it feels when you’re

[Hook: P Money]
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, they don’t even know
How it feels when you’re
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it

[Verse 2: Stormzy]
If you’re gonna send then send for the top
Look, trust me, I get it (calm)
I’ll take that shot and I’ll take that shot
Yeah, I’m photogenic (calm)
But when I spray back and I ended careers
Don’t tell me to dead it (‘llow it)
Bare of these MCs hate me
But they still see me and beg it (pussies)
And I still came back with the game on my lap
Like “nobody move” (no one)
Tryna take care of my Gs
Ain’t tryna see nobody lose
But man try come for my team, I’ll dun him off
My man thought he’s a G, stop running off
I’ve got a crown and you’ve got a crown
But rudeboy, this crown here ain’t coming off (‘llow it)

[Pre-Hook: P Money]
I’ve been killing shows with no deal
I always keep it down to earth, I’m so real
I’m ready, I’m itching to go, can’t sit still
They’re so fake, they don’t even know how it feels when you’re

[Hook: P Money]
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, they don’t even know
How it feels when you’re
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it

[Verse 3: P Money]
Yo, I was one of the youngers that you couldn’t send shop
Yeah, I was a mummy’s boy, but never soft
I boxed man that thought they couldn’t get boxed
Topped MCs that thought they couldn’t be topped
When I flow on the riddim, I never get lost
When you flow on the riddim, you’re told “get lost”
Labels wanna know how I keep going hard
Thought I took a pill cuh my ting never went flop
Complete control, I could never get dropped
There was never a show that never went off
Milking it for so long and it never went off
Don’t know why, maybe it’s cause I never went pop
Helped out the game, man did that a lot
Bring us down to festivals, did that a lot
Man can chat shit about me doing dubstep
Told grime police man never bread cops
So I still spray on dubstep now, and what?
Wait, cut the beat out, let me talk to these lot
Let’s talk P, I’m on about me
First grime act packing at Wireless? Me
Spraying on “Eskimo” at Wireless? Me
Five years straight and still tireless? Me
When everybody got a deal and did what they feel
Who was here releasing grime CDs? Me and Jme
Grime tracks on every single EP? Me
Young MC that was duppying pirate? Me
Big MC still duppying pirate? Me
Doing shows worldwide, play a man’s vocal
Showing their country that it’s not just me
Who was doing that at the time? No one, me
There was more but I can’t fit it in a sixteen
Man just better respect me

[Pre-Hook: P Money]
I’ve been killing shows with no deal
I always keep it down to earth, I’m so real
I’m ready, I’m itching to go, can’t sit still
They’re so fake, they don’t even know how it feels when you’re

[Hook: P Money]
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, they don’t even know
How it feels when you’re
Trill, keeping it real
Trill, keeping it

Trettmann – Adriano (Kitschkrieg, Vol. 3 EP) letras

[Intro Ricky Trooper]
Some bwoy a run up dem mouth and a gwaan
Wait till later, wait till later
Leggo tune…

[Bridge]
Tu was ich immer mach, mach was ich immer tu
Wenn nicht jetzt, wann dann? Einfach weil ich’s kann

[Hook]
Driano Celentano, Driano Celentano
Ihr seid mir egal, Adriano Celentano

[Verse 1]
Jaja, big pimpin Trinidad
Alles echt, alles jetzt, ungestreckt, kein Imitat
Die Versatility, du bleibst’n Mini-Me

Driano Celentano, Driano Celentano
Ihr seid mir egal, Adriano Celentano

[Verse 2]
Pscht, spar dir deine Lingo
Die Versatility, du bleibst’n Mini-Me

Driano Celentano, Driano Celentano
Ihr seid mir egal, Adriano Celentano

Trettmann – In Meinem Leben (Kitschkrieg, Vol. 3 EP) letras

[Hook:]

[Hook:]

Mir doch egal, wen oder was du abziehst

[Hook:]
Tut mir leid, du liegst daneben
Will mir das alles, nicht mehr geben
Hab keinen Platz dafür, nicht in meinem Leben
Hast du gehört ey, nicht in meinem Leben

Trettmann – Wie Du (feat. Carsten Chemnitz) (Kitschkrieg, Vol. 3 EP) letras

[Intro]
Hier ahnt keiner wer du bist, keiner, keiner, keiner

[Hook]
Hier ahnt keiner wer du bist, keiner ahnt was du tust
Hier ahnt keiner wer du bist, keiner, keiner, keiner

[Verse 1]
Du bist kein Designer, eher Made in China, egal was du anhast
Wie Lil Kim und Sean Combs, "No Time For Fake Ones", halte die Balance
Pull Up vorm Club, pump Tyron Tayler "Cottage In Negril"

Hier ahnt keiner wer du bist, keiner ahnt was du tust
2 x

[Verse 2 Carsten Chemnitz]

Hier ahnt keiner wer du bist, keiner ahnt was du tust
2 x

Trettmann – Ehrenrunde (Kitschkrieg, Vol. 3 EP) letras

[Verse 1]
Alle überrundet, Transformation abgeschlossen, alles gut, alles richtig

[Verse 2]
Awhodat – alle wolln deine Bilder, schwarz- weiß ohne Filter
Big Up, Felix und Samy, How many mics? Me say many many many
Shout Out HHV, KK1 – 2 – 3 kommt auf DoppelVinyl
Dann Album, Trettmann, lauf’ locker durchs Ziel

[Hook]

Trettmann – La Dolce Vita (Kitschkrieg, Vol. 3 EP) letras

[Hook]

[Verse 1]
Aye, lass uns Wolken essen
Schwarze Outlines, braune Haut, goldene Kette… in ‘ner
Zeig mir nochmal, nochmal womit du arbeitest, Mhmm
Pull up & come again
Ich link dich gern, komm vorbei
Schreib dir ‘n Song, auf den Leib
Nur wir zwei, sag kei’m Bescheid
"On The Down Low" – Brian McKnight

[Bridge]

[Hook]

[Verse 2]
"Gal flex…" , wie Cobra
"Time to have…", du bist wie ich ein Stoner, hmhm
Teste das Aroma
Du erinnerst mich an "All My Girls Do Yoga"
Kein Spiel spiel, for real real

[Hook]
