Nelly spoke to HL about his forthcoming EP that’s ‘country-influenced’ & features many cross-genre collabs!

Nelly is no stranger to the world of country music, collaborating with Tim McGraw on “Over and Over” in 2004, before most artists were doing this kind of cross-genre work. He then brought his talents to Florida Georgia Line for a remix of “Cruise” in 2012, and now, the rapper is back to working with modern country artists on his forthcoming album Heartland. “I don’t call it a country album. I call it country-influenced, because it’s still a Nelly album but it’s a Nelly album with Nelly showing his appreciation and the influence that country music plays on him,” the DWTS alum told HollywoodLife.com in an EXCLUSIVE interview. “It definitely has a vibe that a lot of people will consider that a lot of people will consider country. A lot of the country artists who I appreciate and who I’m cool with will be featured on there as well. It’s a dope vibe.”

Nelly continued, “It’s something that is a little bit different. Obviously, I’m from the ‘Show Me’ state, so you know, we want to represent at all costs and it’s dope. I’m hoping that it can definitely transcend.” It’s been nearly twenty years since Nelly’s breakout album, Country Grammar, which was Grammy nominated and referred to as one of the best rap albums of all time. Ahead of release of Heartland, Nelly has teased fans with a single from the EP with Florida Georgia Line, titled “Lil Bit” back in October.

“They’re like family to me. We’ve been really fortunate enough to do other things with each other such as tours — we’ve been on two tours together that were huge and we’re actually talking again, so we can tour again whenever we get out of all this,” the “Hot In Here” rapper said of FGL. “We were able to get in the studio and come up with something that we thought would capture the imagination of the energy that we’d like to project in a future tour.”

Nelly spoke to HL in collaboration with Frito-Lay, as part of their new campaign for Flamin’ Hot Lays. “Nelly is getting a chance to resurgence, so to speak… as an artist, you don’t ever feel like you’re actually gone anywhere, but I guess you feel it in a sense of how time moves,” he said. “It’s something that I think, caught the attention of what Frito-Lays was trying to do with their resurgence of Flamin’ Hots, and making it even hotter!”

Bebe Rexha – Meant To Be lyrics

Feat. Florida Georgia Line

[Verse 1: Florida Georgia Line]
Baby, lay on back and relax
Kick your pretty feet up on my dash
No need to go nowhere fast
Let’s enjoy right here where we at

[Pre-Chorus: Florida Georgia Line]
Who knows where this road is supposed to lead?
We got nothing, but time
As long as you’re right here next to me, everything’s gonna be alright

[Chorus: Florida Georgia Line]
If it’s meant to be, it’ll be, it’ll be
Baby, just let it be
If it’s meant to be, it’ll be, it’ll be
Baby, just let it be
So won’t you ride with me, ride with me?
See, where this thing goes
If it’s meant to be, it’ll be, it’ll be
Baby, if it’s meant to be

[Verse 2: Bebe Rexha]
I don’t mean to be so uptight
But my heart’s been hurt a couple times
By a couple guys that didn’t treat me right
I ain’t gon’ lie, ain’t gon’ lie
‘Cause I’m tired of the fake love
Show me, what you’re made of
Boy, make me believe

[Pre-Chorus: Florida Georgia Line]
But hold up, girl, don’t you know you’re beautiful?
And it’s easy to see

[Chorus: Bebe Rexha & Florida Georgia Line]
If it’s meant to be, it’ll be, it’ll be
Baby, just let it be
If it’s meant to be, it’ll be, it’ll be
Baby, just let it be
So won’t you ride with me, ride with me?
See, where this thing goes
If it’s meant to be, it’ll be, it’ll be
Baby, if it’s meant to be

[Post-Chorus: Bebe Rexha & Florida Georgia Line]
So c’mon, ride with me, ride with me
See, where this thing goes
So c’mon, ride with me, ride with me
See, where this thing goes
Baby, if it’s meant to be

[Bridge: Bebe Rexha & Florida Georgia Line]
Maybe we do
Maybe we don’t
Maybe we will
Maybe we won’t

[Chorus: Bebe Rexha & Florida Georgia Line]
But if it’s meant to be, it’ll be, it’ll be
Baby, just let it be (take it, baby)
If it’s meant to be, it’ll be, it’ll be (c’mon)
Baby, just let it be (let’s go)
So won’t you ride with me, ride with me?
See, where this thing goes
If it’s meant to be, it’ll be, it’ll be
Baby, if it’s meant to be

[Outro: Bebe Rexha & Florida Georgia Line]
If it’s meant to be, it’ll be, it’ll be
Baby, if it’s meant to be
If it’s meant to be, it’ll be, it’ll be
Baby, if it’s meant to be

Nelly Rape Case Cops Still Investigating After Accuser Drops Case

Nelly‘s rape accuser has dropped her case against him but cops are still investigating the alleged crime.

This means that Nelly is not fully off the hook yet. Last week, the rapper’s accuser revealed that she will stop pursuing the case against “Country Grammar” star because she can’t go up against a celebrity who has unlimited resources. She is also refusing to testify in the case. Despite her noncooperation, cops are still actively investigating the case.

Auburn PD is not letting the case go and plans to present the prosecutor with evidence in the coming week, TMZ reported. So it will now be up to the prosecutor to decide if he wants to file charges against the rap star. Last weekend, Nelly performed in South Florida with T.I. where he was seen in good spirit as if a weight has been lifted off his shoulder. Nevertheless, his attorney, Scott Rosenblum, says he is confident that the case will be closed base on the evidence presented or lack thereof. “I would expect the police to do their due diligence,” he added.

While Nelly can breathe a sigh of relief from the accuser refusal to cooperate with police, he is still not completely off the hook. If the prosecutor decides to file rape charges against him, it means that he will have to stand trial and at the very least that will taint his brand. During a rant on Twitter last week, Nelly indicated that he would explore legal options against his accuser for defamation and for damaging the reputation of his good name. It’s still not clear if he will still pursue that option. At the very least he wants this whole case to go away.

Nelly is currently touring the U.S. with Florida Georgia Line band and was set for a performance in Washington at the time of his arrest.

Nelly Arrested and Charged With Second Degree Rape

Nelly found himself in a mountain of legal troubles after he was arrested this morning for allegedly raping a woman on his tour bus.

The news sent shockwaves throughout the hip hop community since Nelly is seen as someone who is hardly in any legal problems. TMZ broke the story on Saturday that the rapper is behind bars on a rape charge. He has been touring with Florida Georgia Line band when the alleged incident took place. They even have a show tonight in Ridgefield, Washington.

According to the police report, Nelly tour bus was parked inside a Walmart parking lot in Washington where the alleged incident took placed around 3:48 AM. The unnamed female filed a police report and name Nelly as the man who raped her. The “Country Grammar” rapper was charged with second degree rape and is currently sitting in a jail cell.

“Nelly is the victim of a completely fabricated allegation,” Nelly attorney said. “Our initial investigation, clearly establishes the allegation is devoid of credibility and is motivated by greed and vindictiveness.” The attorney also indicated that the rapper will likely sue the female once he is vindicated in pursuant of any damages done to his good name.
