The young star took in some retail therapy in New York City after his father, Will Smith, resigned from the Academy over slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars.

Jaden Smith is keeping his head up in the wake of his father, Will Smith, resigning from the Academy after he slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars over a joke about his wife — and Jaden’s mother —Jada Pinkett Smith. The young star, 23, was spotted enjoying some retail therapy in New York City with his new girlfriend Sab Zada. The couple was all smiles as they took in the Big Apple offerings, with Jaden rocking a paint-splattered jacket and Sab wearing a multi-colored coat to match her pink-hued hair.

The sweet outing comes as Will stepped down from the Academy shortly after it initiated a review of his behavior during Sunday’s Oscars. In a statement obtained by HollywoodLife, the actor said he “betrayed the trust of the Academy” and is “heartbroken” over his actions. “The list of those I have hurt is long and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, all those in attendance, and global audiences at home,” the statement reads. “I betrayed the trust of the Academy. I deprived other nominees and winners of their opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated for their extraordinary work. I am heartbroken.”

On Monday, Will also offered an apology to Chris via Instagram, saying, “I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be.” He added, “Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive.” He also apologized to Venus and Serena Williams, after winning the Best Actor gong for portraying the family’s patriarch, Richard Williams in King Richard. He then concluded his message by stating that he is a “work in progress.”

Viewers at home were shocked when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock during the Oscars on March 27, and now, the actor’s son, Jaden, is revealing why the evening made him ‘cry’.

“And That’s How We Do It”, Jaden Smith tweeted on March 28, just moments after the 94th annual Academy Awards concluded. Those words were the first from Jaden, after viewers at home saw his dad, Will Smith, slap Chris Rock in the face after the comedian made a joke about Jaden’s mom, Jada Pinkett-Smith, having a bald head.

Jaden didn’t say what his message was in reference to, but fans immediately assumed he was reacting to the slap heard ’round the world. Many responded with pictures of Will slapping Chris, and others made jokes about celebrity reactions from the audience inside the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

We must note, however, that it’s entirely possible Jaden’s message was more of a direct reaction to his dad’s emotional speech upon winning the award for Best Actor. Especially since Jaden’s tweet came after Will’s speech. And, the young actor followed up his initial tweet with a since-deleted one that said, ” My dad’s speech made me cry”. He also added a photo of himself looking sad with sunglasses on.

“Richard Williams was a fierce defender of his family,” Will said of the role he played in King Richard, while accepting his award on stage. “In this time of my life, in this moment, I am overwhelmed by what God is calling on me to do and be in this world. I’m being called on in my life to love people and to protect people and to be a river to my people. I know to do what we do you got to be able to take abuse. You got to have people talk crazy about you. In this business you got to be able to have people disrespecting you. You gotta smile and pretend like that’s okay. I wanna be a vessel for love.”

“I want to apologize to the academy, I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees,” Will went on, before adding, “Art imitates life. I look like the crazy father just like they said about Richard Williams. Love will make you do crazy things.”

Jaden Smith went shirtless to show off his progress since his parents Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith staged an intervention over him being ‘too skinny.’

Jaden Smith, 23, is getting his health back on track and his efforts have definitely paid off. The “Ninety” rapper posted a shirtless selfie along with several other snaps on Monday, Feb. 28 to celebrate going on tour with Justin Bieber. He flexed for a shirtless mirror selfie as his Calvin Klein boxers peaked over his low-rise jeans. The actor put his abs on display as he wore a wild number of necklaces.

The other pics seemed to chronologize his process of getting ready to hit the road. “On The Road Again,” he captioned the pic referencing Justin Bieber’s “Justice” tour. He received plenty of love for his shirtless selfie. The “Ghost” singer even left a comment on the post jokingly calling Jaden “dad.”

He’s also celebrating gaining weight after his parents Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith expressed concerns about him being too skinny. Fortunately, he has made great strides since then and revealed on the Red Table Talk in December 2021 that he has gained 10lbs. “I was able to work with the doctors and really get my vitamins and get my supplements and protein shakes,” the singer/actor explained. “That’s half of my diet. It’s like a password that I have to find to my body. I’m like, ten pounds heavier now, at this point. I feel like I’m keeping on my weight. I’m able to put on more muscle.”

Jada had explained on the same show two years ago that she and Will were concerned because their son was too skinny to the point where he had “dark circles” under his eyes. “Will and I had a bit of an intervention with Jaden because he’s a vegan now, but we realized he wasn’t getting enough protein,” Jada explained on the show in September 2019. “So he was wasting away. He just looked drained, he was just depleted, he wasn’t getting the nutrients.”

The pop star gave his fans a thrill when he performed his signature dance moves on top of a plane at the San Diego kick off concert for the long-awaited tour.

While his fans have been anxiously awaiting seeing him in concert once again, Justin Bieber made sure not to disappoint them when he kicked off the “Justice World Tour” on Friday (Feb. 18) in San Diego. The 27-year-old global superstar pulled out all the stops for the long-awaited extravaganza that will span more than 90 dates in more than 20 countries. Case in point, Justin performed his signature dance moves on top of a gigantic airplane prop suspended from the ceiling high above the Pechanga Arena stage.

The “Never Say Never” singer’s San Diego appearance featured special guests Jaden Smith, Eddie Benjamin and ¿Téo?. The three musicians whipped the crowd into a frenzy with their own unique chart-topping hits, setting Justin up for an epic show. Not only will Justin and his A-list buddies be entertaining the crowd throughout the tour, but the artist plans on raising awareness for a variety of causes as well. Such issues include criminal justice reform, climate change and voter registration, Billboard reports.

According to an announcement, per Variety, Bieber’s goal is to “inspire millions of individual actions, help connect his fans to important causes, and provide participating groups with a new foundation of supporters, all while registering voters and raising awareness and funds for critical local and national justice efforts.”

Initially sidelined due to the pandemic, the “Justice World Tour” — named after Justin’s latest album “Justice” — marks the first time the singer has toured the world since 2017. The concerts will include some of Justin’s fan-favorite hits, as well as his most recent ones off the new album like “Anyone” and “Peaches.” Back in November, Justin announced the reconfigured dates and locations for the world tour, which will come to an end in March 2023 in Poland. “We’ve been working hard to create the best show we’ve ever done, and we can’t wait to share it with fans around the world. I’ll see you soon,” Justin said in a statement at the time.

Jada Pinkett Smith was a vision on the red carpet for the premiere of her latest film, The Matrix Resurrections as she posed for photos with son Jaden Smith, 23. The 50-year-old actress chose a bright red mini dress Giambattista Valli Haute Couture with a strapless cut and long, flowing tulle train. She paired the look with a pair of deep crimson opaque tights and matching shoes for a monochromatic effect, accessorizing with stiletto, PVC shoes, a bracelet and ring.

While Jaden was just a kid when his mom worked on the initial films, he was a big fan from day one. The 23-year-old made a surprise appearance on Jada’s show Red Table Talk last week where she interviewed her cast members Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, along with newcomer Priyanka Chopra. “We all love The Matrix…it’s so relevant right now. We’re going so deep into computers — this movie reminds you to remember there’s another side to computers, as well,” Jaden said on the show. His mom then reminded him he was only six-years-old when she took him to one of the films and he “sat through whole thing.”

Carrie-Anne then recalled “how much” Jaden “loved that movie.” As for Jaden, he recalled “spending time” with both Carrie-Anne and Keanu while Jada worked on set. “I think you guys are amazing, I’ll never forget that,” he said.

This is Jada’s third appearance in the The Wachowskis’ science fiction empire, where she originated the role of Niobe in sequels The Marix Revolutions and The Matrix Reloaded. A hovercraft captain, Niobe was a resistance fighter for Zion, an underground city with over 250,000 humans. In the latest film, the character has significantly aged — requiring Jada to undergo hours of prosthetic makeup each day before shooting.

“It was quite an experience, it took about five hours each day to have it put on, and then, to have to sit in it all day was something else. It’s just like, ‘Oh my goodness!’ But what I loved about it was that it gave me an opportunity to really immerse myself into another version of Niobe,” she said in an interview with Games Radar. “Not to give too much away, but a woman in that stage of her life, who is still in the position that she’s in, it’s pretty awesome, it’s pretty dope. You don’t see that a lot.” she added.

Sofia Richie, 22, was seen stepping out in Los Angeles. The daughter of Lionel Richie and her longtime best friend Tess Kemper exited a West Hollywood area gym on Thursday, Feb. 11. Sofia soaked up the sunshine in a fitted pair of black short shorts, along with a ’90s inspired mock-neck zip from Fear of Gods’ ESSENTIALS line ($95). She kept the throwback vibes going with Prada’s $1,400 black nylon “Re-Edition” bag, which she also owns in the nude “Cameo” shade. The crossbody bag features a wide strap with the “Prada” logo as well as a small coin purse attachment.

Will Smith, 52, and Jada Pinkett Smith, 49, have proven time and again that love can last in Hollywood. The two have been together since the ’90s, and today, December 31, marks their 23rd wedding anniversary. On any given red carpet, they nearly always turn heads. But it’s taken years of love, trust and hard work for the two to maintain their bond while standing in the spotlight. We’re taking a look back at their early years together to today on their milestone anniversary!

Meeting At An Audition

Will and Jada first met when the actress auditioned to play Will’s girlfriend on the popular ’90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Unfortunately, Jada never got the role, which ended up going to Nia Long. But Will was nevertheless taken by Jada’s talent and beauty.

Wedding Bells On New Year’s Eve

He was, at the time, still involved with his first wife, Sheree Zampino, although the pair had hit a rough patch in their marriage. The pair started dating following Will’s 1995 divorce and married on December 31, 1997 at a hotel in Jada’s hometown.

Starting A Family

Jada is also the step-mother to Will’s son from his first marriage, Willard Carroll “Trey” Smith III. The family have such a united front, and both Willow and Jaden have worked with their parents in the past!

Jaden played the son of Will’s character in the Oscar-nominated film The Pursuit of Happyness in 2006 and After Earth in 2013. Willow appeared as Will’s character’s daughter in the 2007 film I Am Legend. Willow is also the co-host of Red Table Talk with Jada and Jada’s mom, Adrienne Banfield-Norris.

A Decade Of Love

Setting The Record Straight

But even Will has admitted that there were times that he wasn’t doing enough for the couple’s marriage in the past. “There was a period where mommy woke up and cried 45 days straight. I started keeping a diary,” Will told Willow during an October 2018 episode of Red Table Talk. “It was every morning. I think that’s the worst I’ve ever felt in our marriage. I was failing miserably.”

The ‘Entanglement’ Story

For her part, Jada admitted that “one of the things that I’m deeply grateful in this whole process between you and I is that we have really gotten to that new place of unconditional love.” Will, however, admitted that he “wasn’t sure I was ever going to speak to you again.” The two, however, worked on their marriage and relationship. “The fact that I’m speaking to you again is a miracle.”

To that end, Jada couldn’t have agreed more. “You gotta go through some sh-t to get the answers. I’m just happy because I definitely believe you and I never ever, ever thought we’d make it back.”

His father, Peter Morton, is the founder of Hard Rock Cafe. His paternal grandfather, the late Arnie Morton, was also the founder of the Morton’s Steakhouse chain, so he comes from a business family. Matthew also had a brother, Harry Morton, who was the founder of the restaurant chain Pink Taco and owned Hollywood’s famous club, The Viper Room, at one point. Sadly, Harry died at the age of 38 due to sudden cardiac arrest caused by undiagnosed coronary artery disease on Nov. 23, 2019.

Matthew is the second rumored love interest to Sofia since she ended her relationship with Scott. Before her Oct. 17 outing with him, she and longtime friend Jaden Smith, 22, caused speculation that they may have been an item when they were spotted hanging out at a beach and going to a group dinner together.

He went to school at New York University. “When I graduated from college I was planning to go to University of Southern California (USC) starting in the spring, but I had also been accepted to NYU starting in the fall,” he told Toolsy in an interview about his successful business, Cha Cha Matcha, earlier this year. “I decided to check New York out for a few months, and the second day I was there I knew I wanted to stay.  I ended up staying in New York for all 4 years of college and studied Business Management with a minor in Art History.”

He also revealed that he recently moved back to L.A., where he was prior to the Big Apple.

5.) The inspiration for his business and work ethic comes from his family. “My family has been in food and beverage now for 4 generations. That’s definitely been an inspiration for me,” he told Toolsy. “Walking with my dad in his restaurants and hotels was always something I enjoyed. Being young and seeing all of these big operations as I grew up was really special.  It’s always been a dream of mine to have a hotel or restaurant. Food and beverage was one of the many things I was interested in growing up.  I’ve also always been passionate about art, film, music and literature.”

Jaden Smith has willpower! He managed to make it through a three minute cryotherapy session in -200 degree temperatures while wearing just trunks and mittens.

Many professional athletes use cryotherapy to as a method of recovery from injuries and inflammation. But actor Jaden Smith gave it a shot with pal David Blaine, as the famed illusionist was preparing his body for the freezing temperatures he would endure with his “Ascension” balloon stunt. In a YouTube video, Jaden managed to power through a full three minute session with temperatures between negative 200–300°F, and totally blew David’s mind with his willpower and fortitude.

“I’m will try to stay in there for as long as I possibly can,” Jaden told David and a facility technician, who warned, “There’s a lot of pro athletes that can’t do it,” as David elaborated, “Meaning they jump out in like 30 or 40 seconds.” After being told that a professional boxer the prior day had tapped out of being inside the chamber, Jaden excitedly replied, “Wow! This is crazy right now.”

Wearing just blue trunks, heavy mittens and socks, and showing off his ripped shirtless bod, Jaden entered the chamber, took a deep breath, and looked downward with deep concentration. Eventually David encouraged the 22-year-old by telling him, “You’re halfway there,” while knocking on the chamber to tell him he was at the 1:30 mark. Jaden replied with a thumbs up to let everyone know he was doing okay.

“He’s got 45 seconds left, he’s doing great!” David marveled. Towards the end he noted that Jaden was starting to shake, but the After Earth star remained standing in place and determined to go the distance. At the three minute mark Jaden put his arms above his head in victory, but once he was out of the chamber, Jaden let on how cold he really was.

Despite making it look so easy do to three minutes inside the cryochamber, Jaden made chilly “Brr” noises upon exiting, while David gave him an encouraging, “That’s amazing,” for the actor’s stamina. But then it was David’s turn to blow Jaden’s mind, as he did NINE minutes inside the freezing chamber. The 47-year-old explained that, “Now the way this helps in my next stunt is when I’m going up with the balloons, I’m riding all the way up, basically every thousand feet you lose three and a half degrees.”

When David pulled off the three full sessions that made his body so cold his body temperature didn’t register on a thermometer, Jaden exclaimed, “I do not know how…that was insane.” It turned out David needed to be able to handle temperatures that cold, as he made it nearly 25,000 feet above Page, Arizona while holding on to a giant cluster of balloons on Sept. 1, before eventually parachuting back down to to the ground below.

With the drama involving his parents’ marriage, Jaden Smith needed some time to chill out with pals. He headed to the beach with Kendall Jenner to get his mind off his folks’ very public marital confessions.

Who better for Jaden Smith to hang out with right now than Kendall Jenner? His mom Jada Pinkett, 48, recently admitted to a relationship with singer-songwriter August Alsina, 27, while secretly separated from movie superstar husband Will Smith, 51. Jaden could use some time around a pal like Kendall, who is used to dealing with plenty of high profile family drama. The pair hit the beach in Malibu along with several friends and Kendall’s Doberman Pinscher Pyro on July 12. The group was all smiles while sitting in the sand, as Kendall later bared her incredible bikini body for a dip in the ocean.

Kendall sported a purple two piece with white patterns on it as she went for a swim. The 24-year-old covered up her incredible model body in a white t-shirt while lying on a beach blanket with Jaden. He played a little matchy matchy with Kenny, wearing a purple and pink swirled tie-dyed shirt, which he took off for their sunbathing session.

Kendall put her brown locks up in a loose bun behind her head, and donned a dark baseball cap. There was still no missing her stunning face, and without sunglasses she was completely recognizable. She looked so pretty makeup free while chilling out at the beach among friends. Kendall and Jaden go way back as pals, and have known each other for years.

Their beach session came just two days after Jaden’s dad Will joined his mom Jada for a special episode of her Facebook Watch show Red Table Talk. They addressed August’s claims that he and Jada had a deep and passionate romance during her marriage to Will. August also claimed he had the Independence Day star’s blessing to go forth with the relationship with Jada.

“Four and a half years ago…I started a friendship with August and we actually became really, really good friends,” Jada explained. “And it all started with him just needing some help, me wanting to help his health, his mental state.” She recalled to Will that, “You and I were going through a very difficult time.” He replied, “I was done with you.” Jada continued, “We broke up. We decided that we were going to separate for a period of time.”

“From there as time went on I got into a different kind of entanglement with August. One thing I want to clean up…about you giving ‘permission’ which is…the only person that can give permission in that circumstance is myself,” she said. Jada explained that she and will were “separated amicably,” and then clarified that when she said the term “entanglement,” “Yes, it was a relationship absolutely.” Will and Jada didn’t split for good, revealing that instead, “We have really gotten to that new place of unconditional love.”
