Meghan McCain called Katie Couric a ‘hypocritical’ journalist in a shocking column she wrote on Oct. 15. Find out how the entire feud unfolded and get details on their rocky history here.

Meghan McCain, 37, didn’t hold back about her feelings on Katie Couric, 64, in a column for Daily Mail, which was published on Oct. 15, and it’s bringing their headline-making feud to the forefront of everyone’s minds. The former co-host of The View fearlessly called the broadcast legend “a hypocrite” and criticized her journalism when Katie admitted to leaving out certain comments from the late Ruth Bader Ginsberg after a 2016 interview she had with her. Although she claimed she took out some of her words as a way to “protect” her, Meghan wasn’t having it and even seemingly called Katie’s behavior “toxic.”

Find out the details of the feud, how it unfolded, and past issues they’ve had below.

Before Their Latest Feud, Meghan Called Out Katie In Jan. 2021.

The Republican called Katie’s comments “out of bounds” after she spoke to Bill Maher over how she feels people should view former President Donald Trump‘s supporters. “I also think some of them are believing the garbage that they are being fed 24/7 on the internet, by their constituents, and they bought into this big lie,” Katie said. “And the question is how are we going to really almost deprogram these people who have signed up for the cult of Trump.”

Meghan, who has been known to also criticize Trump, responded to Katie’s words by saying she thought that after Joe Biden‘s presidential win in Nov. 2020, Democrats would be calling for unity. “Instead we’re hearing a lot of language from people like Katie Couric talking about Republicans like me need to be deprogramed, that we’re brainwashed — that 74 million Americans are basically irredeemable people, that we don’t need to communicate with or in any way have anything to do with,” she said shortly after Katie’s interview. “I think it’s horribly dangerous for the country and I also think it’s horribly dangerous for Democrats. … Honestly, they can go to hell because I don’t need to be deprogrammed.”

Their Latest Feud All Started With Katie’s Memoir.
Katie Couric’s memoir reveals intimate details about her life. (Charles Sykes/Invision/AP/Shutterstock)

Katie’s new book, Going There, which has a release date of Oct. 26, 2021, reveals intimate details about her life and the struggles she went through, such as a battle with bulimia as a teen, but it also includes her opinions and actions as a journalist, which is what Meghan had a problem with. She admitted to leaving a portion of her interview with Ruth out because she criticized NFL players like Colin Kaepernick for kneeling in protest during the national anthem during football games.

Katie explained that the former Supreme Court Justice described the players kneeling as having “contempt for a government that has made it possible for their parents and grandparents to live a decent life.” She went on to claim that a public affairs official for the Supreme Court asked her to remove the comments about the NFL players the next day because they said she had “misspoken.”

Katie Admitted Removing Ruth’s Comments Wasn’t An Easy Decision.

In the book, Katie also says she “lost a lot of sleep” while thinking about how to proceed with the request to remove the comments. She was also receiving conflicting opinions about whether or not to go along with it, but she ultimately decided to make the cut.

After Advanced Copies Of Katie’s Book Were Sent Out, Meghan Wrote The Column That Called Her Out.

Meghan quit The View and teamed up with the Daily Mail to work as a columnist in Sept. 2021. She released a statement that said she was excited about the job because it would allow her to share her opinions without the fear of censorship and in her column about Katie, that’s exactly what she did. It was released on Oct. 15, 2021 and talked about Katie’s practices as a journalist as well as toxicity in the workplace.

“How can there be any expectation of trust between anyone with an opinion to the right of Ruth Bader Ginsburg if interviewers and their networks believe editing out commentary they believe would hurt a progressive icon is an ethical thing to do?” Meghan questioned in the column, before adding, “…Katie Couric would have afforded no conservative woman any such mercy.”

She went on to say that “the generations before mine have created, fostered and enabled a long line of toxic behavior towards the generations of women coming up behind them,” before calling Katie’s memoir, “nothing short of a kamikaze mission to destroy what is left of the carcass of her career.”

Meghan also said she “hated” Katie’s book during her Oct. 20, 2021 appearance on Watch What Happens Live, which can be seen above.

Meghan Admitted She Hasn’t Liked Katie Since Her 2008 Interview With Sarah Palin.

Katie’s infamous interview with former Alaska Governor and then-vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin in 2008, received a lot of criticism, and Meghan admitted it was that moment that caused her not to like the former Today anchor. “I don’t like Katie Couric, I haven’t liked Katie Couric since she interviewed Sarah Palin,” Meghan wrote before describing the interview as “a trainwreck” in which Sarah performed poorly.

“But she was being interviewed by an infamous mean girl who has now admitted to leaving out a ‘damaging’ part of an interview with Ruth Bader Ginsburg where the former Supreme Court justice and left-wing icon admits to not liking those who kneel before rather than salute our American flag,” she continued.

Meghan brought up both interviews, with Sarah and Ruth, to point out that she didn’t trust Katie for not tweaking her final interviews to make liberals look good and conservatives look bad. “If we now know for a fact that if Katie Couric edited her interviews to make famous liberals look good, one can only imagine and speculate about what she might possibly have done to make conservatives look bad,” she explained before using that as an example of why people shouldn’t trust media. “How many other interviews did she rig or manipulate during her long, storied career? And why did her network allow it to air in such a fashion?”

Katie Hasn’t Responded To Meghan.

As of Oct. 24, 2021, Katie hadn’t responded to Meghan’s comments about her memoir, but since she’s often in the spotlight and dishing details during her book tour and other appearances, we’d suspect the topic could come up sometime in the future.

Jason Sudeikis made his first ‘SNL’ appearance in years! The actor was a long-running cast member on the series before departing in 2013.

Jason Sudeikis, 45, is back! The actor appeared on  Saturday Night Live for his first-ever hosting gig on Saturday, Oct. 23 — and reprised his role as Joe Biden! New comer James Austin Johnson opened with his new take on the current president in an Oval Office set. Seemingly exhausted, he pondered — what happened to his old self?

In come Jason’s Biden, who he hasn’t portrayed since 2013! “I’m you! I’m you from 8 years ago. The ghost from Biden’s past — boo!” Jason hilariously quipped, visibly casual in a bomber jacket and baseball hat (Johnson’s Biden, however, was in a full suit and tie).

“Yeah, partner, where I’m from — we’re still VP. Easiest job in the world. We’re like America’s wacky neighbor…we pop in with ice cream, shake a few hands, rub a few shoulders,” Jason’s Biden explained to his future self, played by James’ version, who tried to fill his past self in on the last eight years (including Donald Trump).

“The last president ruined everything! Ordering McDonald’s to the White House, hanging out with strippers,” he began, as Jason’s Biden quipped the “only mansion I care about is the Playboy Mansion — that’s classic 2K-13 Biden!”

SNL cast member Alex Moffatt — who played Biden once in 2013 — also joined the fun. “Who the hell are you?” Jason’s Biden asked. “I’m Joe Biden?” Alex’s Biden replied to a confused Jason and James were clearly confused. “From When?” Jason’s Biden then inquired. “March 2021?” Alex replied, as the two dismissed him.

“I should just mosey back on 2013, I just got tickets to a concert,” Jason suggested, before giving James some advice. “We may be from different eras — at the end of the day, we’re both Joe-freaking-Biden.”

Jason’s career has exploded since his long-running tenure at SNL, which began as a writer before becoming a cast member in 2005 (he left in 2013 after a decade). Most recently, the actor has starred in arguably the biggest hit on Apple TV+, Ted Lasso. The Fairfax, Virginia native plays the title character in the series, which follows the story an American college football coach who led the Wichita State Shockers to a Division II NCAA championship.

The popular show even led to Jason’s first-ever Emmy in Sept. 2021, where SNL showrunner Lorne Michaels teased the former cast member’s return. “Jason Sudeikis will be coming back soon,” the Canadian-born producer said to press, declining to offer more details. Jason was later confirmed alongside Owen Wilson, Kim Kardashian and Rami Malek as one of the first four hosts to kick off season 47.

HollywoodLife has also reached out to confirm the news.

“Our wedding was about two things for us…our love for and commitment to each other, and our family—each of our families, and the new very large and very tight family that we were bonding together by getting married. That’s it,” Meghan said to the publication. Along with the interview, the couple also shared gorgeous wedding wedding photos revealing Meghan’s chic white blazer dress by Rasario. She added a pearl net over her face as a veil, keeping her blonde hair back in a bun, as well as a pair of Manolo Blahnik‘s blue Hangisi pumps (the same ones worn by Sarah Jessica Parker in the Sex and the City movie).

The surprising couple took their romance Instagram official on Sept. 25 with a sweet photo confirming the relationship. “Trying my best to avoid any cheesy introductions like ‘my main squeeze’… so just meet my man,” Meghan captioned a pic of the two snuggling, along with a fitting heart emoji. Barack and Michelle met in 1989 while working at the same law firm. Michelle was assigned to be her future husband’s mentor, and they hit it off right away. The pair went on their first date in 1989, and were married just three years later on Oct. 3, 1992. The pair have gone from strength to strength through the years, and regularly make public appearances together.

Most recently, the couple joined President Joe Biden, 70, and his wife Dr. Jill Biden, 70, along with Bill Clinton, 75, and Hillary Clinton to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. The group were photographed standing somberly at the site where the World Trade Center towers fell two decades ago. Barack penned a message on Instagram, emphasizing the importance of “reflecting on what we’ve learned” in the 20 years since the attack.

“That list of lessons is long and growing. But one thing that became clear on 9/11 — and has been clear ever since — is that America has always been home to heroes who run towards danger in order to do what is right,” he wrote in part. “For Michelle and me, the enduring image of that day is not simply falling towers or smoldering wreckage. It’s the firefighters running up the stairs as others were running down. The passengers deciding to storm a cockpit, knowing it could be their final act. The volunteers showing up at recruiters’ offices across the country in the days that followed, willing to put their lives on the line.”

In an interview with Vogue India in June 2020, Angelina opened up about the divorce, explaining that it was the best decision for the “wellbeing” of their kids. She also called the children “strong” people. “It was the right decision,” she said. “I continue to focus on their healing. Some have taken advantage of my silence, and the children see lies about themselves in the media, but I remind them that they know their own truth and their own minds. In fact, they are six very brave, very strong young people.”

In addition to Naomi, Peter shared the same post-engagement pic to his own Instagram and they both tagged the location as Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Naomi and Peter’s engagement comes after they’ve been dating for at least three years. They sometimes shared glimpses into their relationship in pics and videos on social media, including a birthday post Peter recently shared for Naomi in 2019. “Happy birthday to my partner in everything @naomibiden who is the most brilliant and beautiful best friend. She is more kind, loving, and thoughtful than the world deserves and we are all, and me in particular, lucky to get another trip around the sun with her,” the caption read.

Naomi, who is Hunter Biden and his ex-wife Kathleen Biden‘s daughter, is one of Joe’s seven grandchildren. She has been seen with him and other family members at various political events over the years, including when Joe served as vice president for two terms when Barack Obama was in office.

Jennifer Lopez moved on with rekindled beau Ben Affleck months ago, finally taking down most photos of ex Alex Rodriguez on Aug. 14.

It’s more than clear that Jennifer Lopez , 52, has moved on from ex Alex Rodriguez, 45, amid her romance with Ben Affleck, 48 — but the singer just caught her Instagram narrative up to real time. J.Lo finally went and deleted most old photos of the former Yankee, as well as unfollowed him, on Saturday, Aug. 14. The move comes four months after their April split, following rumors that he had engaged in an online relationship with Southern Charm star Madison LeCroy, 30. The purge also comes just two weeks after the “Dear Ben” singer went Instagram official with The Town actor in Saint Tropez (rocking a bikini, no less).

Notably, Jen had a close relationship with Alex’s two daughters Natasha, 16, and Ella, 13, who bonded with her twins Max and Emme, 13. Jen and Alex regularly posted social pictures and videos of their blended family over their four years together. A quick glance at her account reveals several A-Rod related posts remained up: notably, an old photo of the former couple with the late Kobe Bryant and his wife Vanessa as a memorial for his death, as well as an old Thanksgiving snap with the four kids and a Halloween post with Alex’s nephew Nick Silva.

As of publishing time, Alex continues to follow Jennifer on the Facebook-owned social media platform. He also has several posts up of her, including a Valentine’s Day tribute from Feb. 2021. “Thank you for taking me into your heart and on the journey of a lifetime,” he wrote for his fiancée at the time. Other old posts up on his account include a portrait from Joe Biden‘s inauguration, and several family photos.

Earlier this week, sources told HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVELY that Jennifer “is giving zero thoughts to how A-Rod feels about her relationship with Ben” and “doesn’t care who he’s dating or what he’s doing.” The insider spilled that the door is “completely closed” for the exes as she focuses on her rekindled romance with Ben. The pair, affectionately dubbed “Bennifer” in the early 00s by press, were formerly engaged from 2002 – 2004 but never made it down the aisle amid intense media scrutiny. “She really is focused on making it work this time around. They both are,” our source also said of the reunion.

Naomi Biden rocked the same pink Rodarte dress that her sister Maisy wore to their grandfather Joe Biden’s inauguration in January!

Joe Biden’s granddaughter Naomi wore a familiar frock for a date night with boyfriend Peter Neal. Naomi, 27, the eldest daughter of the president’s son Hunter, wore the same heart-printed pink Rodarte dress that her sister Maisy, 20, wore to their grandfather’s presidential inauguration in January. She documented the look on Instagram on Monday, Aug. 2, as seen HERE.

Naomi and Peter were on hand to celebrate their friend’s wedding — but not before a photoshoot on the beach. “Magical night celebrating two of our favorites,” she captioned the post. “Counting down the days till they say I DO.” Naomi finished her look with strappy heels and half of her hair pulled back, while her boyfriend opted for a classic tux for the occasion.

Her younger sister donned the same dress during the evening festivities of the inauguration earlier this year. In lieu of strappy heels, however, Maisy opted for sneakers with the stylish dress, giving the look a comfortable and youthful flare.

Naomi and Maisy, as well as their sister Finnegan, 21, and cousin Natalie, 17, turned heads on inauguration day with their fashionable monochromatic looks. With Kamala Harris‘ stepdaughter Ella Emhoff rocking a Miu Miu coat on the big day, the president’s grandchildren and the vice president’s stepchildren practically became overnight fashion sensations.

It isn’t clear if Naomi went through her sister’s closet or simply added her own Rodarte to her wardrobe collection. But one thing that does remain clear is how close President Biden is to all of his grandchildren. On the final night of the Democratic National Convention last August, Naomi, Maisy, Finnegan, and Naomi told PBS News Hour that their grandpa calls them every day.

“He’ll pick up our calls no matter where he is,” Naomi said. “He’ll be onstage, giving a speech, and we’d call him and he’d be like, ‘What’s wrong?!’” She added, “We’ve grown up together,” she said.  “He’s made sure that every single tradition, every holiday, we’re all together…I don’t think there’s been any decision, no matter how big or small, that we haven’t decided as a family.”

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s activist daughter, Michaela Kennedy-Cuomo, came out as demisexual during pride month. Here’s 5 things to know about her.

While New York Governor Andrew Cuomo was at the forefront to try and contain the spread of Coronavirus, he got some much needed help from his 23-year-old daughter, Michaela Kennedy-Cuomo. She proved herself to be an incredible role model for young people, joining her father, 62, during a message to New Yorkers. In the months since, she has also been open about her sexuality and her struggle with societal labels, revealing she identifies as demisexual. Here are five things you need to know about Michaela Kennedy-Cuomo.

1. Michaela came out as demisexual.

In honor of Pride Month, Michaela Kennedy Cuomo posted a selfie of herself with a background made up of rainbow flags, and opened up about her queer identity. She later offered some more insight about her sexual orientation during an Instagram Live with activist and author Donato Tramuto, revealing she identifies as demisexual. PFLAG describes it as individuals who only feel sexually attracted to someone when they have an emotional bond with the person. “When I was in elementary school, I feared that I was lesbian. When I was in middle school, I came out to my family and close friends as bisexual. When I was in high school, I discovered pansexuality and thought, ‘That’s the flag for me.’ ” Michaela explained. “I’ve recently learned more about demisexuality and have believed that that identity resonates with me most.”

2. She comes from a very prominent family.

Not only is Michaela the daughter of the New York Governor, her mother, Kerry Kennedy, is a celebrated human rights activist and author. Furthermore, Michaela’s family is connected to American politics and one of the most well known political families in the United States. Her maternal grandfather was United States Senator Robert F. Kennedy, making her great uncle President John F. Kennedy. On her father’s side, Michaela is the niece of CNN correspondent Chris Cuomo. Michaela has two older twin sisters, Cara Ethel Kennedy-Cuomo and Mariah Matilda Kennedy-Cuomo.

3. She attended an Ivy League school.

Prior to the Coronavirus pandemic, Michaela was wrapping up her final year at Brown University. She majored in Education and Human Development, with a focus on Social Inequality, according to her LinkedIn page. While attending Brown, Michaela wrote for the Brown Political Review as a Culture Writer.

4. She’s already embracing political activism.

While attending Brown, Michaela became one of the major leaders on her campus for the It’s On Us Campaign. The campaign began under the Obama administration and was a major tentpole for Vice President Joe Biden‘s time at the White House. It’s On Us combats sexual assault on college campuses by encouraging bystanders to horrific sexual crimes to speak up without penalty, empowering victims as well. Along with meeting Vice President Biden — and posting about it regularly on Instagram — she also shared images from It’s On Us week at her campus.

5. Michaela gets political online.

Apart from her Instagram, Michaela’s Twitter account also showcases some real activism. “Respect Existence or Expect Resistance,” reads the bio underneath her Twitter profile. In June 2019, Michaela used her Twitter account to speak out against former political candidate Roy Moore, Supreme Court Judge Brett Kavanaugh, and President Donald Trump for creating legislation “that protects privileged assailants at the expense of the survivor.”

Ella — the daughter of Kamala’s husband and second gentleman Douglas Emhoff and his ex-wife —rocked a green bikini, a blue baseball cap, and black sunglasses for the outing, while her boyfriend opted for purple and red patterned swim trunks and blue-tinted sunglasses. On Tuesday, Ella shared more snapshots from her French getaway on Instagram, captioning the series of slides: “fun times in france.” The post featured hotel snapshots, food pics, and even a glimpse of her mom Kerstin Emhoff.

Ella and Sam first sparked romance rumors in February, just one month after her stepmom’s inauguration as the 49th vice president of the United States. The two have since been spotted out and about in New York various times, including dining together at a restaurant in Chinatown in February, holding hands in the West Village in March, and strolling Manhattan in May.

Ella first captured the attention of America when she arrived at the inauguration of stepmom Kamala and President Joe Biden in January; the Parsons School of Design graduate wore a Miu Miu coat that captivated fashion enthusiasts everywhere, resulting in her being hailed as the inauguration’s breakout fashion star.

The exposure has yielded many fashion ventures for the vice president’s stepdaughter. In late January, Ella signed a modeling contract with IMG Models, the agency that also reps Gigi Hadid and Barbara Palvin. Later that month, she made her debut at New York Fashion Week, modeling for Proenza Schouler’s fall 2021 show. Ella also released a collection of knitwear in February that quickly sold out. And in early June, Ella participated in her first Vogue photoshoot, rocking an “ugly-chic” mullet.

‘This isn’t your grandmother’s Georgia anymore.’ These are the words of Kim Jackson, who believes that none of the state’s new voter suppression laws will stop other progressives from getting elected there.

When Kim Jackson was growing up in a “one-stoplight town”, she never imagined that one day she would become the first queer state Senator in Georgia. But after her surprise win in a fairly conservative Georgia district in the 2020 elections, the reaction of one young woman from her former high school encapsulated for her why it was so important that she had run for office and succeeded.

The young woman “direct messaged me after my election and she said, ‘You know, I go to the high school you graduated from and it’s really homophobic even now. But seeing you get elected let me know that maybe something good can come out of our town, cause you did!’”

“I will always hold that message close to my heart”, Jackson told HollywoodLife in an exclusive interview. “Because I do think it exemplifies what so many young folks who come from places like I come from needed to see… I’m very grateful to be a hope bearer in that way for so many people.”

Jackson, who is also Black, is a hope bearer, especially since she managed to get elected in a Georgia district that is deeply religiously diverse. She succeeded she explains, through a very hands-on campaign of meeting her voters at meet and greets in their homes two or three nights a week before the pandemic. Then in numerous zoom meetings.

Kim, who is also an ordained minister, loved meeting the people that she would represent and talking to them about the issues that were important to them.

“It’s my job to sit in person with people and ask questions. That’s what gives me energy”, she enthuses.

But she absolutely believes that her election as a Black queer woman – along with the election of two Democratic senators, Ralphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff – and with President Joe Biden winning the state, “symbolizes that Georgia is not your grandmother’s Georgia.”

“So many people just have kind of written off Georgia as this kind of country place where white straight men are going to be the people who get to run this country and run the state. My election proved otherwise,” she confidently asserts. “Georgia is very capable and willing to elect an out Black queer woman. And while I may be the first, I won’t be the last.”

Good to hear her prediction, especially after Georgia, became infamously the first state to pass sweeping voter suppression and potentially voter nullification laws after the state “turned blue” in the 2020 election. Clearly, the white Republican men who had traditionally run the state were terrified by the prospect of losing their grip on power at the highest levels of the state government and they were determined to prevent that from happening again. It didn’t help that former President Trump pleaded in a phone call with Georgia Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger, to somehow “find” him over 11,000 votes (that didn’t exist) so he could take Georgia’s Electoral College votes away from Biden and have them awarded to himself.

When Jackson was elected she thought she would be focused on passing legislation to improve the lives of families and women, in her district and state. “It’s really similar to how I came to do ministry. I felt very much called to make people’s lives a little better,” she recounts. In fact, she decided to run for the Senate after working with a group of other women to get legislation passed to get a huge backlog of rape kits in Georgia tested as evidence in rape cases.

“Tears were streaming down my face,” she remembers. However, she never expected that once elected, she would be spending her first months in office fighting Georgia’s proposed new laws that would ensure that  Black, minority, disabled and young people would find it much harder to vote in the state.

The new laws make it harder to vote by mail, to absentee vote, to use drop boxes for ballots and could shorten voting hours, close polling stations, and consolidate voting districts. It makes it illegal to provide free water and food to people waiting in lines, often for hours, to vote. As well and even more egregious than this, they could even allow the Republicans to overturn the results of Georgia elections if they don’t like them.

Jackson found herself fighting tooth and nail along with her other fellow Democrats in the Republican-dominated Legislature to at least get rid of the worst of the worst of the new laws, like a ban on Sunday voting which took direct aim at Black voters who historically voted in groups after attending church. She takes comfort in the fact that the final bill wasn’t as bad as it was originally.

“As a Black American in the South, anytime people make it more difficult for us to vote, we cannot help but remember the people who come before us, who literally bled and died trying to get access to the ballot”, she asserts. “I feel like I am carrying on the work of our ancestors and I stand in that legacy of making sure that we secure access to the ballot for everyone. I receive energy and hope from that legacy.”

Jackson talks about the steep hurdles that Black Americans have had to overcome historically in Southern states in order to cast their ballots, and yet they did overcome them. “There was a time when we had to open up literacy schools to teach people how to read so they could be able to vote because that was the requirement… and to teach people about the Constitution so they could pass these poll tests,” she points out. “So if we have to go inside buildings to get to drop boxes, these are hurdles that we are primed to jump over. Because we’ve already done things that were much more difficult.”

If Georgia Governor Brian Kemp and his Republican lawmakers think that by changing voting rules and restricting access to the polls that they will be able to retain total control of Georgia’s government, then he is seriously wrong according to Jackson. “They changed the rules because we were winning and we will keep winning”, she insists. “Georgia is increasingly a blue state. We will register more and more people to vote and we will get these folks to the polls”, she insists. “We will focus on educating people on how they can still go vote and making sure they know exactly where to go.”

Jackson also is passionate about passing gun safety laws in Georgia, as well as expanding Medicaid and more – but those will be tough battles in Georgia. Image Credit: Allison Shirreffs

Jackson explains that yes she is working with Stacey Abrams organization, Fair Fight, which has been responsible along with other progressive activist groups for registering thousands of minority and young voters to vote in Georgia’s elections and to educate them about how to do it. They will push forward on this work despite Georgia’s new laws, which also elicited widespread criticism from Atlanta-based corporations like Coca-Cola and Delta.

She believes that Kemp and the state Republicans have actually hurt, not helped themselves. “I think the laws have energized people. You know, it’s like when somebody hurts you. It makes you mad and you get right back up and fight. People will be going back to the ballot box out of revenge.”

Because of this, this first-time lawmaker is optimistic that Democrats will win all the state-wide elections in 2022, including the Governorship. Will Stacey Abrams run for governor again after losing in a very tight race in 2018? “We all hope, pray and believe that Stacey will be running for governor”, she responds. And will she win? “Absolutely, absolutely,” insists Jackson.

She also predicts that Raphael Warnock will be re-elected to his Senate seat, despite all the opposition efforts. But in the meantime, a determined Jackson has been working hard and across the aisle, to make life better and safer for her constituents. She succeeded in driving a bill into law that allows women to get out of their leases if they are being stalked. “It was really important for me to accomplish this because it will save women’s lives… if we can get women to safety, if we can get women out of the place where their stalker knows they live and they can have a fresh start, then we can save their lives”, she tells Hollywoodlife.

Jackson’s next priority is to get a bill passed that enables people who are victims of sexual assault, to get a protective order. Currently, you can only get one in Georgia if you are a victim of domestic violence (in other words, your assaulter is your domestic partner ), or you can get one if you are being stalked. But, if the person who assaults you isn’t your domestic partner (they could be someone that you dated casually or just knew), then you can’t get a restraining order. You fall through the cracks. Jackson wants to stop that.

And yes, she worked with Republicans to get her law allowing the breaking of a lease passed, and now she is working with one who will co-sign her protective order bill. “You can’t pass a bill in Georgia without Republicans”, she says matter-of-factly. She has also worked with Republicans on a criminal justice reform bill. “We’re able to find places where Republicans and Democrats can come together on issues like women’s safety and adoptions which are originating in the foster care system.

Not surprisingly, Jackson is proud that despite her position as a Democrat – the minority party in the state’s Senate and House of Representatives – she has been able to make positive change. And she hasn’t encountered any hostility or pushback from her Republican colleagues about the fact that she is queer. “My colleagues will say to me, ‘oh I know, I found out that you’re gay’ and they whisper the word ‘gay’. And then they are very quick to say ‘I’m cool about it’”, she recounts. “And it is often an opening for legislators to say to me ‘oh, you know my daughter is like you.’”

She believes that it’s because there are Republican colleagues who do have sons and daughters “like her”, that some “pretty terrible bills” that would have prevented same-sex couples from adopting, as well as a bill banning trans kids from participating in sports, have all quietly died.

Jackson may be the first Black female LGBT state senator in Georgia, but there are four others across the country. And what her success tells her is that others like her and other young women, in general, can run and get elected into political offices, despite what they think are long odds.

“I’m living proof that you can do it”, she tells HollywoodLife. When she began to think about running for office, she initially thought that she should wait 20 years, until she was older, but her mom stepped in and told her “why do something when you’re old when you can do it when you’re young?” Her advice pushed her to take the step to do what she felt “called” to do.

Then she received encouragement and concrete help from a progressive organization called Run For Something that gives training to progressive candidates running for political office at the state and local levels. “They were the very first organization to endorse me – they were the first to believe in me – a young Black woman who had never run for office”, she enthuses. “They gave me training and an advisor to talk through strategy. They really helped me as a first-time candidate.” She encourages other young progressives who are considering running for office to contact Run For Something. Or, if you would like to donate to Run Gor Something, click here.

Her other advice to aspiring political candidates counsels Jackson, who has been married to her partner for 10 years, is to “surround yourself with people who believe in you and will remind you that you can do it, when you may not believe in yourself.”

Jackson definitely listened, and look where she is now.

The Royal Ascot is back! The Queen was beaming as she arrived to the event, marking another public appearance without late husband Prince Philip by her side.

Queen Elizabeth, 95, looked so regal as she arrived to the annual Royal Ascot! The head of the royal family wore an elegant turquoise blue coat and matching hat for the event, held on Saturday, June 19. She was beaming as she stepped out of a car, smiling and laughing with other event attendees as she stood outdoors. In another photo, the equestrian appeared elated as she gazed at a beautiful horse — one of her favorite animals.

Queen Elizabeth arrives at the Royal Ascot on June 19, 2021.

She paired the mint-colored ensemble with a black pair of low-heeled leather shoes that featured a gold buckle, accessorizing with a pearl necklace and a show-stopping brooch. The event was a momentous occasion for The Queen after she missed the event for the first time in 68 years during COVID-19. The 2020 event still took place, but without an audience due to social distancing measures that were in place. The Queen was still able to observe the the Ascot via her television at Windsor Castle.

The Royal Ascot is an annual event on the Royal social calendar since it was started by Queen Anne all the way back in 1711. It has always been held at the Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire, England each June, and runs for a full five days. The event attracts the top racehorsers from around the globe to compete for coveted titles and, of course, prize money. A ticket is highly coveted to the exclusive event, which has a strict dress code: men must wear a full morning suit with a top hat, while women are required to wear a hat with a minimum base of four inches.

This year’s event occurred with some limitations still in place. All attendees were required to take a rapid COVID-19 test upon arrival, in addition two PCR tests on the day of the event and five days after. The Queen’s arrival also looked different: this year, the 95-year-old did not arrive by her usual carriage, which generally leads a procession with other members of her family.

The event marks one of Queen Elizabeth’s first public appearances since the death of her beloved husband Prince Philip, who passed in April at the age of 99. Just a week ago, was hosting a reception for President Joe Biden, 78, and First Lady Jill Biden, 70, during the G7 Leader Summit.

President Joe Biden was speaking at the U.S-Russia summit in Geneva when he accidentally referred to Vladimir Putin as Donald Trump, but quickly corrected himself.

Joe Biden, 78, made a minor snafu when speaking at the U.S.-Russia summit in Geneva, Switzerland on Wednesday, June 15. The president was delivering a speech at the podium when, on accident, he briefly referred to Russian President Vladimir Putin as former U.S. President Donald Trump. “I caught part of President Trum…uh, Putin’s press conference,” Biden said. Video of Biden’s gaffe was shared by users on Twitter, which you can see below.

Biden met with Putin, 68, on June 16 as part of his first trip abroad since being inaugurated as the 46th U.S. president in January. The political leaders spoke at the lakeside Villa La Grange for nearly four hours, according to Reuters. Discussions at the meeting reportedly centered on cyber attacks, the imprisonment of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, and more.

Ahead of the meeting, Biden called Putin a “worthy adversary,” according to USA Today. After the meeting, Biden reportedly told reporters, “I did what I came to do.” Biden departed for the overseas trip on June 9 and has already attended the Group of Seven meeting in the United Kingdom and the NATO summit in Belgium.

Biden’s relationship with Putin strongly contrasts to that of Trump’s. While in office, Trump, 75, was criticized for cozying up to Putin and refusing to accept evidence that there was Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election. In a recent interview with NBC News, Putin said that Trump was “an extraordinary individual, talented individual.”

Trump has kept a low profile since leaving office in January — largely due to being banned from multiple social media platforms. He made an appearance at a rally in North Carolina on June 5, during which he was criticized for apparently wearing his trousers backwards. Joy Behar of The View was among the many to mock the 45th president. “This guy’s running around with pants that looked like he pooped in them or something!” Behar, 78, joked to her co-hosts. “It’s weird.” Trump did not respond to the buzz.

Less than a year after Kanye West announced he was running for president, Caitlyn Jenner has her sights set on becoming the governor of California!

Caitlyn Jenner, 71, and  Kanye West, 44, have both announced political ambitions in the last year — but the I Am Cait star doesn’t plan to an endorsement or tips from the Yeezy designer. “Caitlyn and Kanye don’t really speak anymore, so she has no plans to reach out to Kanye for an endorsement of her run for governor,” a source close to the Olympic gold medalist tells HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVELY. Caitlyn formally filed paperwork for her gubernatorial campaign on April 23, while Kanye took to Twitter to announce his intention to run in the 2020 presidential election — later won by Joe Biden — last July.

While Caitlyn and Kanye previously had a close relationship, the rapper’s ongoing divorce from Kim Kardashian, 40, has put a strain on things. “They always got along really well, but when Kim and Kanye split, it affected their relationship. It became difficult for the family because they didn’t want to take sides,” the source added. “They have always had respect for one another, but Caitlyn wants to ensure she doesn’t overstep any boundaries with Kim. [Kim and Kanye’s] divorce changed things between them,” they explained.

As for the rest of her family — including daughters Kendall, 25, and Kylie, 23, and step-children via ex-wife Kris JennerKourtney, 42, Kim, 40, Khloe, 36, and Rob, 34 — Caitlyn had made it clear she doesn’t wsnt public support. “I did speak with all my children and I said, ‘Hey, I don’t want one tweet, I don’t want you—this is my deal,’” Caitlyn during a May 26 interview on CBS This Morning. “[I told them] not to be involved whatsoever….I said if anybody asks any questions in the media — because obviously they are in the media — I just said, say ‘no comment,’ address your comment to me,” she explained.

Our source echoed that politics is “off-limits” during family dinners, but Kendall and Kylie support their dad no matter what. “Kendall and Kylie support Caitlyn and remain extremely close to her. The family is divided when it comes to politics, so they really all just try to keep that separate. It’s sort of an off-limits topic at the dinner table,” they told HL. Both Caitlyn and Kanye’s political runs haven’t been without controversy: Kanye caused a stir at a rally in North Carolina where he said, “I almost killed my daughter” in reference to a conversation he and Kim had about aborting her pregnancy with North West, 7. Caitlyn has also ruffled feathers with comments, including her stance that “biological boys” who are trans competing on “girls’ sports” teams isn’t “fair.”

“Caitlyn would love her family to stand behind her but doesn’t expect her family to participate in any serious way in this campaign,” our source also said. “She hopes things will change because she has always had political aspirations and could truly use the support. She knows how much power her family has when it comes to future votes,” they explained.

Prince Charles, Justin Trudeau and Boris Johnson were also in attendance at an outdoor royal reception amid the G7 leader summit.

Queen Elizabeth, 95, welcomed President Joe Biden, 78, and First Lady Jill Biden, 70, in the United Kingdom! The reigning monarch hosted a reception for the Group Seven world leaders Eden Project botanical garden on Friday, June 11. Queen Elizabeth was beaming as she wore a white and pink floral patterned dress, perfect for the late Spring season. The ensemble fell past her knees, showing off her black leather shoes. The 95-year-old also sported her usual white gloves and black leather handbag.

Jill stunned in a beige colored trench coat — a nod to legendary British design house Burberry — accessorizing with a blue clutch and suede shoes. Jill smiled warmly during a conversation with the Queen, with Joe by her side. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, 49, was also in attendance, sporting a light gray suit with a pink tie. In other photos, Joe and Jill could be seen chatting with United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his wife Carrie, as well as talking to Prince Charles, 71. “Joe and I are both looking forward to meeting the Queen,” Jill said ahead of the trip, marking their first overseas visit since Joe became president. “That’s an exciting part of the visit for us,” she added.

The president and first lady have had a jam packed schedule since touching down in the U.K. Earlier the same day, Jill met up with Kate Middleton, 39, who at Connor Downs Academy in Hayle, West Cornwall. The Duchess of Cambridge and Jill were offered a tour of the primary school as they caught up, matching in pink outfits! Kate stunned in a gorgeous fuchsia midi dress designed by Alexander McQueen and carried a L.K. Bennett handbag, while Jill opted for a light pink blazer.

The previous evening, Jill and Joe also enjoyed some time alone! The couple went for a stroll before sitting down in an outdoor area of the Tregenna Castle Hotel in St. Ives. Jill swapped out her heels and dresses for casual (and more practical) sneakers and jeans. “I’m enjoying it — we’re enjoying our walk,” Joe said to the media, speaking loudly over his security team. “I’ll tell ya, it’s so beautiful here, it doesn’t even need the sun,” he added, referencing the somewhat cloudy weather.

Joe Biden reflected on son Beau — who died at age 46 after a battle with brain cancer — in a deeply moving speech to mark Memorial Day.

Joe Biden, 78, visited the grave of his late son Beau with his grandson Hunter, 15. The two shared a touching moment as Joe embraced Beau’s younger child as they walked side by side in photos captured on Sunday, May 30th. Joe and Hunter were joined by First Lady Jill Biden, 69, and the president’s daughter Ashley, 39, as they marked the sixth anniversary of Beau’s death in Wilmington, Delaware. In the photos, Joe looked sombre as the glanced at his teenage grandson, who kept his face hidden behind a black face mask.

Joe spoke candidly about Beau, who lost his battle to brain cancer in 2015 at just 46 years old, after a visit to St. Joseph’s church — also Beau’s burial site. “As many of you know this is a hard day for us. Six years ago today, Hunter lost his dad and I lost my son,” Joe said at at Memorial Day service at the Veterans Memorial Park. “If he were here, he would be here as well paying his respects to all those who gave so much for our country. A lot of time passes, but you all know as well as I do that the moment that we celebrate it is the toughest day of the year. We’re honored but it’s a tough day,” he said in the deeply emotional address.

“Brings back everything. So I can’t thank you enough for your continued service to the country,” he said to the audience of service members and their family, reminding them that their late children “live in your hearts and in their children as well.” He added, “Thank you for allowing us to grieve together today.” In other photos, he was seen shaking hands with church officials as Hunter stood by his side. Wearing a dapper navy suit and tie, the Pennsylvania native still managed to crack a smile through the emotions of the day. In addition to Hunter, 15, Beau was also father to daughter Natalie, 16.

Just days ago, Joe also shared touching words about Beau’s decision to join the Delaware National Guard unit in Iraq. “He gave up the seat and had the courage to appoint a fellow who had been a Republican attorney general as attorney general while he — while he went. The proudest thing he ever did,” the president said on Friday, May 28. “He spent a year in Iraq. And it was — it was one of the great honors of his life to do it. Won the Bronze Star, the Conspicuous Service Medal, and other awards — like many of you have — but he never, ever talked about it,” he said.

Oops! Jill Biden needed a hand after her stylish leopard print pumps got stuck in some pavement while visiting Kansas City.

Jill Biden, 69, always looks stylish — but she had a bit of a fashion mishap on Thursday, May 27! The First Lady was walking alongside security and a photographer as she was heading to the Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport in Kansas City, Missouri when her leopard print pump got wedged into some pavement. She was quickly helped by the officers and photographer as she attempted to move her stuck foot, smiling and laughing the entire time. The incident nearly lead to her tripping, but fortunately that was avoided.

The reflection of Air Force One could be seen behind her in the window, which Jill was about to board to continue her tour in Michigan to encourage Americans to continue getting vaccinated against COVID-19. She paired her animal print shoes with a two-piece chocolate brown set, consisting of a blazer and straight leg pants. She added a matching camisole underneath, and accessorized with gold jewelry including a long necklace, bold earrings and a brooch.

Dr. Biden has been making plenty of appearances of late, including one with actress  Jennifer Garner, 49! The two women posed for a photo op West Virginia — Jen’s home state — on Thursday, May 13 just hours after Joe Biden said masks are no longer required outdoors for vaccinated Americans. Jill once again looked stylish in a blush pink blazer and white dress, along with a floral printed pump.  “We feel naked…I didn’t mean it that way!” Jill joked about being mask-free, ditching her pink version that she wore on the plane. “We just learned [about the new rule] as we got off the plane. And here I had gone out to buy one that was coordinated with my outfit so you can’t win,” she also said on the tarmac.

On May 4, the president issued an update about vaccinations across America — urging those who have not received theirs to make an appointment. “I want to thank the 105 million Americans of every background who are fully protected from one of the deadliest pandemics in our history,” he said. “There’s one fact I want every American to know: People who are not fully vaccinated can still die every day from COVID-19. Look at the folks in your community who have gotten vaccinated and are getting back to living their lives — their full lives. Look at the grandparents united with their grandchildren, the friends getting together again. This is your choice. It’s life and death,” he urged.

Ricky Schroder is under fire after a filmed confrontation with a Costco employee over a mask wearing mandate, which have not been lifted by the state of California.

Ricky Schroder, 51, went viral after demanding he be let into Costco without a face mask. The Silver Spoons actor filmed an aggressive confrontation with a store supervisor after being denied entry due to the company’s rules around masks, along with California state guidelines around COVID-19, on Sunday, May 16. The video begins with Ricky approaching the employee after an initial conversation, asking, “What’s your name?”

Come on, #RickySchroder. Don’t you have better things to do? Like finding auditions? Although I'll admit, your recent performance as a Karen was pretty convincing. #stopharassingretailemployees https://t.co/Yo1cKaVEIC

— Diane M. Johnson (@CaseyAdamsStark) May 16, 2021

“My name is Jason, and I’m a front end supervisor,” the staff member replied, pointing to his name tag. Ricky then asked, “and why aren’t you letting me in?” Jason politely explained that the decision was due to California’s mask mandate, which remains in place — despite President Joe Biden‘s comments that “fully vaccinated Americans” can now go maskless outdoors. “Because in the state of of California and in the county of Los Angeles — and at Costco — there has been no change to our mask policy,” Jason told the actor, who was becoming increasingly agitated.

“Didn’t you see the news? Nationwide — Costco said you don’t have to wear masks,” Ricky replied, as Jason held his ground regarding California’s state rules — noting that there is a possibility they could change by mid-June. Ricky then asked the staffer if he was “going to listen to these people” who are “in power” as they “destroyed our economy.”

Has-been former child actor Ricky Schroeder has nothing better to do with his time then to harass people just trying to do their jobs. What a sad, desperate way to try to make yourself relevant again. It will never happen you #SadOldMan! #KEVIN #CallTheManagerKevin

— CleanHouse2020 (@CleanHouse2018) May 16, 2021

“What I am going to do is follow their guidelines,” the Costco employee once again responded. At that point, Ricky turned the camera around to film himself — demanding that his followers get refunds from the wholesale retailer, just like him. “I’m getting my refund from Costco. I suggest everyone in California get their refund from Costco — give up your membership from Costco — until they remove this,” he 24 alum then quipped.

Twitter immediately blasted the actor for his behavior. “Come on, #RickySchroder. Don’t you have better things to do? Like finding auditions? Although I’ll admit, your recent performance as a Karen was pretty convincing. #stopharassingretailemployees,” one wrote. “Anyone who harasses a store or restaurant employee over a mask policy is despicable. These (usually underpaid) workers are doing their job and trying to keep everyone safe. Haranguing them, as actor Ricky Schroder did at an LA Costco, is the definitive asshole move,” another added.

Ricky made reference to President Joe Biden’s comments on Friday, which have confused many Americans. “Starting today, if you’re fully vaccinated and you’re outdoors and not in a big crowd, you no longer need to wear a mask,” Joe said, referencing CDC guidelines. “I want to be absolutely clear. If you’re in a crowd, like a stadium or at a conference or a concert, you still need to wear a mask, even if you’re outside. But beginning today, gathering with a group of friends in a park, going for a picnic as long as you are vaccinated and outdoors, you can do it without a mask,” the President explained. Mask wearing mandates are, however, in control of each individual state.

Kamala Harris, 56, is celebrating Ella Emhoff becoming a college graduate! The vice president and her husband Doug Emhoff‘s 21-year-old daughter, whom he shares with ex-wife Kerstin Emhoff, 54, had her commencement from The New School’s Parsons School of Design in New York City this week and she shared a joyous pic to Instagram with a sweet caption. In the photo, Ella and Kamala, who is called “Momola” by her stepchildren, including Ella’s brother Cole Emhoff, 26, are posing and smiling with their arms around each other.

Just one day before Kamala’s post, Doug, 56, also took to his Instagram to share a photo with Ella all dressed up in her cap and gown, which can be seen above. “My darling Ella, we are such proud parents! We love you so much, and are very much looking forward to all you do in the future. And, to the other Class of 2021 graduates out there, huge congratulations!” he wrote in the caption.

Ella’s graduation comes while she’s in the midst of launching a fashion career. She signed with IMG Models in Jan. and made her runway debut at the Proenza Schouler at New York Fashion Week in Feb. She also appeared on her first magazine cover with Dust a week later.

The talented model made major headlines at the 2021 Inauguration after Joe Biden was elected president and her stepmom Kamala was elected vice president. She showed up to the important event in a dress she designed with designer Batsheva Hay and they later launched a knitwear collection. In addition to gushing over her love of fashion, in interviews this past year, Ella has gushed over Kamala and her role as the first female vice president in the United States.

“It’s so empowering to see someone who’s so sure of herself and is not going to back down. What’s so important about her is that she’s super comfortable with her assertiveness,” she told Glamour about Kamala in Oct. 2020. “She doesn’t see that as a weakness, and she’s not scared. To see someone who is running like that with Joe for the highest of offices—I hope it will open up the floodgates for a lot more women and especially women of color to just run and then hopefully make it to the top. I think that we’ve needed someone like her to come along.”

Joe Biden has proved he’s a true gentleman, surprising his wife of 43 years by picking her a flower while walking hand-in-hand across the lawn at The White House.

Jill Biden and Joe Biden may have been married for 43 years, but their romance is very much still alive! President Joe and Dr. Jill were seen walking hand-in-hand on April 29, when the POTUS surprised her with a sweet, romantic gesture. He bent down while strolling across the lawn at the White House to pick a dandelion from the grass. The couple then boarded Marine One, bound for Plains, Georgia, to meet with former president Jimmy Carter and former first lady Rosalynn Carter.

The First Lady stunned in a blue dress with a yellow and green floral pattern, a matching protective face mask, and a yellow heels. She held onto the flower as she boarded the plane with her husband. Twitter users were quick to comment on how sweet Joe’s action was. “I’m glad we elected a president that cares for his wife as well as the American people,” one person wrote, while another joked, “I’ve already seen her hold her husband’s hand more times than Trump’s entire presidency.”

It comes just a few months after Joe opened up in a 2020 interview with CBS Sunday Morning about his enduring relationship, “I adore her,” he began. “I’m gonna sound so stupid — I was saying the other day, when she comes down the steps and I look at her, my heart still skips a beat.”

Most recently, Joe confirmed he personally called the family of George Floyd to discuss the murder conviction of his killer, former Minneapolis Police cop Derek Chauvin. After just 10 hours of deliberations, a jury found the ex-police officer guilty of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in Floyd’s May 25, 2020 death. Biden told his seven-year-old daughter Gianna that her father “did change the world,” as his death set off nationwide protests about police brutality and systematic racism.

“I just spoke with George Floyd’s family again. A remarkable family of extraordinary courage. Nothing can ever bring their brother, their father back. But this can be a giant step forward in the march towards justice in America,” he said in a statement, adding, “What I just discussed with the Floyd family, the guilty verdict, does not bring back, George. But, through the family’s pain they are finding purpose. So George’s legacy will not be just about his death, but about what we must do in his memory.”

As Joe Biden delivered his first speech to Congress, Senator Ted Cruz pretty much passed out. Twitter instantly went after ‘Sleepy Ted.’

Dreaming of sunny days in Cancún? Senator Ted Cruz was caught pouting in the audience during President Joe Biden‘s first speech before Congress, even falling asleep at one point. As Cruz struggled to keep his eyes open while Biden spoke about immigration and the situation at the Southern border, Twitter absolutely roasted the Texas senator for his inability to pay attention.

“Dreaming of the sun and beaches of Cancun,” The View co-host and CNN analyst Ana Navarro tweeted. “Ted Cruz is sleeping as soundly now as he did in the Ritz Carlton while Texans were freezing to death,” one Twitter user wrote, referring to the senator’s actions during the historic February storm that left eight Texans dead. While millions went without electricity and heat as the state’s power grids failed, Cruz was caught flying to Mexico for a family vacation.

Twitter users also questioned Cruz for calling Biden’s speech “boring but radical” and an “outline of his socialist vision” despite clearly being asleep as the president spoke. “Who is sending these Tweets for you Teddy, since you were caught sleeping during the speech?” a Twitter user responded to his tweet. “Three words for Teddy: boring, and cowardly,” another person tweeted.

Cruz aside, it was a triumphant night for Biden. “Madam Speaker. Madame Vice President. No president has ever said those words from this podium, and it’s about time,” Biden said to cheers as he introduced Vice President Kamala Harris and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. This was the first time that two women sat behind the president at the dais in Congress, and Harris and Pelosi elbow bumped to celebrate the occasion.

People literally broke down in tears of joy and took to the streets cheering, now that justice has been served with Derek Chauvin being found guilty of George Floyd’s murder.

Justice at last! After a Minnesota jury convicted former Minneapolis Police officer Derek Chauvin of murdering unarmed Black man George Floyd by kneeling on his neck for more than eight minutes during an arrest, people took to the streets to celebrate. Floyd’s murder on May 25, 2020 sparked nationwide protests and reinvigorated the Black Lives Matter movement. On Tues. Apr. 20, 2021 there was joy instead of pain, as people celebrated the fact that Chauvin will be going to prison for Floyd’s killing. At the site of his murder where a permanent memorial was erected to Floyd, emotions flooded over those gathered, with chants of “Black lives matter.” You can see more  photos of the celebrations in our gallery above.

The jury was given the case to deliberate on the afternoon of Mon. Apr. 19, 2021 and came back the next day with their verdict after only about 10 hours of deliberations. Chauvin had been charged with second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter, and was found guilty on all charges. When the verdicts were read live, those at George Floyd Square erupted in cheers, and cars driving through downtown Minneapolis honked their horns in approval of the conviction.

Floyd’s death was caught on video by bystanders watching his arrest. He had been taken into custody for suspicion of passing a forged $20 bill to purchase a sandwich at a Minneapolis deli. Chauvin was seen kneeling on a handcuffed Floyd’s neck, even though he had already been pinned to the ground. Floyd could be heard pleading “I can’t breathe,” while Chauvin was seen kneeling on the man’s neck with his hands casually in his uniform pockets. Even Minneapolis firefighter Genevieve Hansen claims she was forced to stand by helplessly and not allowed to render medical aid to Floyd.

Hansen testified on Mar. 30 — the second day of Chauvin’s trial — that “I could have given medical assistance, and that’s exactly what I should have done,” but she was unable to “because the officers didn’t let [her] on the scene.”  She added, “There was a man being killed… I would have been able to provide medical attention to the best of my abilities. And, this human was denied that right” of Floyd.

Before news that the jury had reached a verdict, even President Joe Biden weighed in on the case. He told reporters at the White House, “I’m praying the verdict is the right verdict. Which is, I think it’s overwhelming in my view.”

Thousands of National Guard members had been called up to help protect the city of Minneapolis in case of any violence that occurred if the jury had gone a different way. The city had suffered multiple nights of rioting following Floyd’s death in 2020, which saw the Minneapolis P.D.’s Third Precinct looted and burned to the ground, as officers were forced to flee. That was where Chauvin and three other officers at the scene of Floyd’s death were based. All four officers were fired on May 26. Chauvin was charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter on May 29, 2020, with the second degree murder charge upgraded on June 3, 2020.

Walter Mondale, who served as vice president under Jimmy Carter, died at the age of 93 on Apr. 19, according to his family, and tributes from the former president and more are being shared.

Walter Frederick “Fritz” Mondale has died at the age of 93, his family revealed in a statement on Apr. 19, according to CNN. Although no cause was given, it was confirmed that the former vice president passed at his home in downtown Minneapolis while surrounded by family, spokesperson Kathy Tunheim said, the outlet further reported.

“It is with profound sadness that we share news that our beloved dad passed away today in Minneapolis, Minnesota,” Walter’s family said in the statement. “As proud as we were of him leading the presidential ticket for Democrats in 1984, we know that our father’s public policy legacy is so much more than that.”

Once Walter’s death was announced, it didn’t take long for former president Jimmy Carter, 96, who he served under from 1977-1981, and other political figures and celebrities to react.

“During our administration, Fritz used his political skill and personal integrity to transform the vice presidency into a dynamic, policy-driving force that had never been seen before and still exists today. He was an invaluable partner and an able servant of the people of Minnesota, the United States, and the world,” Jimmy said in a statement. “Fritz Mondale provided us all with a model for public service and private behavior. Rosalynn [Carter] and I join all Americans in giving thanks for his exemplary life, and we extend our deepest condolences to his family.”

Walter Mondale believed in the power of government to make a positive difference in people’s lives, and proved it at every stage of his remarkable career—with deep policy knowledge, a tireless work ethic, and uncommon decency. Hillary and I loved him and will miss him very much.

Former president Bill Clinton took to Twitter shortly after Walter’s death to also share a tribute. “Walter Mondale believed in the power of government to make a positive difference in people’s lives, and proved it at every stage of his remarkable career—with deep policy knowledge, a tireless work ethic, and uncommon decency. Hillary and I loved him and will miss him very much,” he wrote.

Barack Obama said that Walter “changed the role of vice president” in a tweet he shared. “Walter Mondale championed progressive causes and changed the role of VP—so leaders like @JoeBiden could be the last ones in the room when decisions were made. In selecting Geraldine Ferraro, he also paved the way for@VP to make history. Michelle and I send prayers to his family,” it read.

Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar also shared a couple of tweets with one reading, “On the wall of the Carter Library is a quote of Walter Mondale’s at the end of their time in office: “We told the truth. We obeyed the law. We kept the peace.” That pretty much sums up Walter Mondale’s life and service.”

Vice President Walter Mondale led an extraordinary life of service—in uniform during the Korean War, as a Senator, and as Vice President. I was able to speak with him just a few days ago and thank him for his service. I'll miss him dearly, and my heart is with his family today.

— Vice President Kamala Harris (@VP) April 20, 2021

Vice President Kamala Harris shared her thoughts of Walter and sadness over his death in a tweet as well. “Vice President Walter Mondale led an extraordinary life of service—in uniform during the Korean War, as a Senator, and as Vice President. I was able to speak with him just a few days ago and thank him for his service. I’ll miss him dearly, and my heart is with his family today,” she wrote.

Before Walter’s death, he reportedly knew the end of his life was near and sent an email, obtained by CNN, to former staffers that acknowledged his “time has come.”

“I am eager to rejoin Joan and Eleanor. Before I Go I wanted to let you know how much you mean to me. Never has a public servant had a better group of people working at their side! Together we have accomplished so much and I know you will keep up the good fight,” he wrote in the moving message.

“Joe in the White House certainly helps,” he added while referencing President Joe Biden. “I always knew it would be okay if I arrived some place and was greeted by one of you!”
In addition to vice president, Walter served as the 23rd Attorney General of Minnesota from 1960-1964, United States Senator of Minnesota from 1964-1976, and the 24th United States Ambassador to Japan from 1993-1996.
Our comfort and healing wishes go out to all those affected by Walter’s death.

Stars are applauding Rep. Maxine Jordan for telling Rep. Jim Jordan to ‘shut your mouth’ as he tried to talk down Dr. Anthony Fauci at a COVID subcommittee hearing.

Even with a Democratic president in Joe Biden who supports him, Director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Dr. Antothy Fauci is still taking heat from Republicans in Congress about COVID-19. During a Thurs. Apr. 15 House Coronavirus Crisis Subcommittee hearing, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) had to jump in and tell Rep.Jim Jordan (R-OH) to “Shut your mouth” after he ranted at Dr. Fauci well after his allotted time expired. Video of the exchange with Waters shutting Jordan down has gone viral, with stars applauding the 82-year-old political veteran.

Jordan, 57, lit into Fauci by demanding to know exactly when the COVID-19 pandemic will end, when Americans will have their ‘liberties” back and when public health mandates such as mask wearing will finally be lifted. Fauci responded by telling Jordan it was a false equivalency. “You’re indicating liberty and freedom. I look at it as a public health measure to prevent people from dying and going to hospital,” Fauci told Jordan. The doctor the said American life will begin to return to normal as more and more people receive vaccinations. You can see the full exchange here, with Maxine jumping in at the 6:38 mark below, as well as the isolated soundbite:

Dr. Anthony Fauci and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) raised their voices over each other during a tense discussion about when COVID restrictions will end — concluding with Rep. Maxine Waters telling Jordan to “shut your mouth.”

Jim was eventually told his time had expired when Committee Chair Rep. James Clyburn, (D-SC) told him that people get their liberties back when 90 percent of the members of the U.S. Congress get vaccinated. Jim then turned and demanded answers from Dr. Fauci, ranting “when, what are the numbers?”

Fauci explained that with more people vaccinated, “level of those with the virus will come down and there will be more flexibility for doing the thing that you’re talking about.” Jordan again demanded, “At what number to we get our liberties back, tell me the number.” Maxine then shut him down hard, yelling “Your time expired sir. You need to respect the chair and shut your mouth!” after Clyburn interrupted Jordan to move the questioning along to another member of the committee.

Stars responded to Maxine telling Jim to shut up with glee. Former Star Trek actor George Takei tweeted, “Hearing Auntie Maxine Waters tell Jim Jordan to shut his mouth is my new favorite thing.” Actress Rosanna Arquette also tweeted Maxine’s words along with praise, writing, “You need to respect the chair and shut your mouth. I love Maxine Waters.”

I really wish CNN hadn’t shown that entire Gym Jordan rant. I wish they’d only shown the part where Maxine Waters tells him to shut his mouth.

Everyone has a different standard for declaring a day a 'Great Day'

Officially a Great Day, I mean

I have my standard – you have yours

🤔But, if it happens to be a day when Maxine Waters tells Jim Jordan to shut his mouth, it should qualify by definition, eh?

Washington Post contributor Holly Figueroa O’Reilly gushed, “Maxine Waters telling Jim Jordan to ‘shut your mouth’ is my new f**king ring tone,” while user @TheRealDWoo tweeted, “Everyone has a different standard for declaring a day a ‘Great Day’ Officially a Great Day, I mean I have my standard – you have yours. But, if it happens to be a day when Maxine Waters tells Jim Jordan to shut his mouth.” With Jordan’s reputation for rants and grandstanding, this probably won’t be the last time he pulls such a stunt in Congress. But Twitter users are hoping Maxine is there to shut him down once again next time he does!

It looks like Lil Wayne and Denise Bidot have managed to patch things up after their January split. She smiled and drew their names in the sand inside of a heart.

After several breakups, it appears Lil Wayne and model Denise Bidot have found a way to make up again. The 38-year-old rapper — real name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. — shared an Instagram stories video of Denise, 34, kneeling in the sand near the ocean, with the brunette beauty writing their names in the sand and drawing a big heart around them. She used her finger to draw “Denise” with a small heart for “loves Dwayne” then blew a kiss to the camera.

Over the video, Wayne seemed to be teasing a new track, as bars from a song could be heard. He didn’t write anything on the vid, though it seemed to speak for itself that he shared Denise showing so much love in his direction. This would be the first big indication that the pair have reconciled after splitting in early January. Denise hasn’t posted anything to her IG account since Jan. 21, and that was after she scrubbed it of photos of Wayne following their latest breakup.

On Jan. 5.,  Denise dropped a cryptic message that read “Pretty disappointing when you defend someone throughout everything and they turn out being just as sh*tty as everyone said they were,” though she didn’t mention Wayne by name,  She also shared a photo of her daughter giving a thumbs up sign and assured fans in caption, “We good over here. Happy Tuesday.” The pair also unfollowed each other on the ‘gram signaling another split.

It came despite the two appearing to be a happy couple again over New Years, where they were seen cuddling close as fireworks were going off overhead. Both Denise and Wayne had big smiles on their faces and were wearing shiny silver New Year’s 2021 novelty glasses.

That reunion came after Denise seemed to break up with Lil Wayne in early Nov. 2020, following his surprise meeting and endorsement for then-President Donald Trump. He shared an Oct. 30 photo standing with Trump giving thumbs up signs with to his Twitter with the caption, “Just had a great meeting with @realdonaldtrump @potus besides what he’s done so far with criminal reform, the platinum plan is going to give the community real ownership. He listened to what we had to say today and assured he will and can get it done.”

Wow … can this year be over already

— Denise Bidot (@DeniseBidot) November 2, 2020

Denise — a Joe Biden supporter — then deleted not just her IG photos of her and Wayne, but her entire Instagram account as they appeared to split up. She kept her Twitter active where on Nov. 2, she wrote, “Wow…can this year be over already,” seemingly in reference to Wayne’s support of Trump. But the pair were back together by Thanksgiving, where he whisked her away on a lavish vacation.

Supporting Trump up paying off for the “Lollipop” rapper, as late on Jan. 19, 2021 in Trump’s final hours in office, he gave Wayne a presidential pardon, which saved him from a possible 10 year prison sentence. In Dec. 2020, Wayne pleaded guilty to possessing a loaded gun when his private jet landed in Miami and was searched by authorities. He’s not allowed to carry a firearm as a convicted felon. His sentencing was scheduled for Jan. 28, 2020, where he could have received up to a decade behind bars.

Cindy McCain is currently being vetted by Joe Biden to become a new UN ambassador. Here’s what you need to know about Cindy, wife to John and mom to Meghan McCain.

The McCain in the news isn’t Meghan this time. Cindy McCain, 66, is reportedly being considered for a UN ambassadorship by President Joe Biden, which would bring her to Rome. Cindy is currently undergoing vetting to become the next US ambassador to the UN World Food Programme, a highly coveted position, according to sources who spoke to Politico. As she awaits the end of the vetting process and potentially becomes the Biden administration’s first Republican appointee, here’s what else you need to know about Cindy:

She Is John McCain’s Widow

Cindy met husband John McCain in 1979 at a reception in Honolulu, Hawaii. The future Arizona senator was then a US Navy liaison officer to the United States Senate, while she was on the island for a family vacation. The two were actually introduced by current First Lady Jill Biden! Their relationship began while he was still married to first wife Carol McCain. After their divorce was finalized in 1980, John and Cindy got married just a few months later.

She took a major role in her husband’s various political campaigns, going door to door for him during his first Senate run, in 1982, and was by his side during his presidential runs in 2000 and 2008. The couple had four children together: Jack, Meghan, James, and Bridget McCain. John unfortunately passed away in 2018 of brain cancer.

She’s Meghan McCain’s Mother

Yes, that Meghan! Cindy’s eldest daughter is the outspoken conservative co-host of The View who frequently butts heads with liberal counterparts Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg. Cindy is a frequent guest on the morning talk show, often to talk politics, reminisce about Meghan’s father, and embarrass her to bits. When Meghan shocked her audience by admitting she would vote Democrat in the 2020 election, she cited the Trumps always “making my mom cry” as one of her reasons.

She’s A Businesswoman & Philanthropist

While publicly, Cindy is focused on politics (including turning Arizona blue for Biden in 2020), she’s a wealthy businesswoman more behind the scenes. Cindy is the heiress to Hensley & Co., one of the largest Anheuser-Busch beer distributors in the United States. She inherited majority control and became chair of the company in 2000, after her father passed away.

Cindy is also chair of the McCain Institute for International Leadership board of trustees. The McCain Institute was founded in 2012 and is a think tank in cooperation with the University of Arizona. It’s mission is to “advance leadership based on security, economic opportunity, freedom, and human dignity, in the United States and around the world,” according to their mission statement.

Her Parents Are Jim & Marguerite Hensley

Cindy’s father is Jim Hensley, the wealthy former head of Hensley & Co, and her mother is Marguerite “Smitty” Hensley. Cindy was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, and graduated from the University of California (USC) with a Bachelor’s in education and Masters in special education. She has lived in Arizona for the rest of her life, even moving back to her childhood neighborhood after her husband’s death.

She’s Worth An Estimated At $200 Million

The beer distribution industry did Cindy well. Her net worth, as of 2018, was an estimated $200 million — mostly thanks to her Hensley & Co. shares, according to Business Insider. She also inherited money after her husband’s death.
