Amid the ongoing crisis at Yes Bank, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday asked the Centre to name “50 top wilful defaulters”. During a session in Lok Sabha, the former Congress president asked names of the country’s top wilful defaulters.
“There are seven important indicators which show that there are green shoots in the economy…economy is not in trouble,” Sitharaman said in Lok Sabha on Tuesday. She said the government’s focus is on four engines of growth which include private investment, exports, private and public consumption.
The government on Wednesday introduced a bill in Lok Sabha, which aims to significantly reduce the huge tax disputes linked to direct taxes totalling Rs 9.3 lakh crore, unlock revenues for the Centre and provide relief for tax payers. But it bars cases involving undisclosed foreign assets and income.
In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, minister of state for finance Anurag Thakur said that according to the IMF (International Monetary Fund) estimates, India continues to be among the fastest-growing economies in the world and its gross domestic product (GDP) is estimated to grow at 5.8 per cent in 2020-21 and is further projected to surpass China with a growth rate of 6.5 per cent in 2021-22.
