According to observer Wesley Culp, the Iskander (the 9P78 launcher, capable of carrying two missiles for three people) remains the most modern Russian platform for launching ballistic and cruise missiles.
The target range of the 9M723 quasi-ballistic missile is 500 km, and the circular probable deviation using the homing head does not exceed 5 meters, the author of the publication noted. The missile has the ability to carry a warhead weighing up to 700 kg. Also, the operational-tactical missile system can use R-500 cruise missiles.
Iskander, the development of which began in 1988, and the first test launch is dated 1996, is designed to destroy air defense and missile defense systems, as well as important enemy targets.
It was previously reported that Iskander missiles can carry special elements that allow you to deceive air defense systems.
